Just waiting on the repair sleeve for the tranny output flange so I can drive while the weather is nice before installing the DCOE's.

The existing 3.64 is leaking out of both axle seals. I didn't want to have to pull it, find I needed an extra part or two, then have the car off the road for days/weeks waiting on the parts. At least that's how I justified the LSD to myself. ? I will rebuild the 3.64 and sell it to defray some of the LSD cost.

Checked (and corrected) the roundness of a new set of brake drums.

(as an aside: when I do rear brakes, I have the drums turned and the brake shoes arced to the drums .... the video is an example of how 'new-bolt-on-brakes' aren't always or exactly ideal)

Approaching the finish line on the rear suspension.  Does anything stand out that I need to address before bolting it up?  I cleaned an inch of red Georgia clay off the top side of the subframe before sending off for powder coat.  I saw that many had done a dark grey when refinishing there’s.  Once I got down to the original color on mine, I saw that It was black so kept it there - it also matches the front that I had recently done.

I’ve been blasting/painting/rebushing the front suspension. I was finally to the point where I could reassemble it last night. Stock rubber is installed everywhere but the swaybar. I imagine I’ll want larger bars on the car, but for now the stockers will have to suffice. I went through the steering box as well. I was pleased to see that there was essentially no wear in the box at all. So just a rinse out, new seals, and a lick of paint.

I don’t recall if I’d posted pics of the front struts or not so here they are. They’ve been done for a while. Bilstein Sports and IE stage 2 springs. New ball joints n rotors. New wheel bearings and seals will be installed after the whole thing is hanging under the car again.

I think next time in the shop it’ll be time to weld the nose on and start prepping the engine bay for paint. I’m looking forward to the day when I can get this pile of parts back down on 4 wheels.

thanks. E24 rear seats and center console recovered with black vinyl. The center sections are tartan wool. Home made parcel shelf to fit the seats cut for 6x9 speakers, the amp will mount against the rear wall inside the center console.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
