That is an amazing effort you’re going to for the Tray drain recesses. Absolutely top shelf. I feel like there were irregularities in the OEM stampings as well. I understand and appreciate wanting to make something technically perfect, but what you have there is already 99.9%. I’d trim the openings and move on.

stellar, just stellar

I appreciate the comment, but there is still room for improvement tho ;)

I'm not content with it yet.

ps, would there be any interest in these? I could make a small section (10-15cm, so you have plenty of material left to repair the center, left or right section of the rain tray) with the shape pressed in once I got the shape dailed.

Took the FunMobile out for a much-deserved drive after two weeks of wash, deep clean, clay, hand-sanding with 1500, 2000, 3000 grit,  then coarse, medium, and fine polishing... whew!

pulled the light assemblies to renovate the reflectors and clean up the chrome, connections.

Added a ground wire to my temp gauge behind the cluster.  Wow, what a difference.  No more spiky needle, and a new normal that is lower than before.  Also wired up my new clock and USB port.

Custom made for me. Flanged for T3/turbo and Tial 46 mm wg. Tapped for 2x egt sensor + one for pressure. It is a joy to be able to put professionally made parts to a car.

Installed a 123Ignition Bluetooth distributor and....  WOW!  I expected a little improvement, but damn! I haven't even done an actual timing adjustment, or played with the curves yet, and it has made a HUGE different.  I had already upgraded the plug wires and coil when I bought the car, and I didn't have any major problems with the current distributor which had an older Pertronix ignitor in it.  I was able to start it on the first try, and it was idling rough until I turned the distributor by hand until the idle came up and smoothed out.  After that, it was idling too fast, so I turned it back a bit and it settled down.

This is a stock, tired old motor, yet the throttle seems more responsive, and it is much happier and smooth from 3k to 5,500 RPM where it starts to run out of breath.  So much more fun to drive though!  Next up is to dial in the base timing with a light, and adjust from there.  I could also *feel* that i need to adjust the valve lash, which I'll do after the timing.

You'll be astounded what happens when you adjust your camber plates in about an inch, too...

Swapped out my 40cm classic Tii sport (bus) wheel

for an original 35cm Momo Clay Regazzoni with a wonderful patina from my buddy Keshav, the steering wheel "Guru" of the E9 Coupe community.

I never imagined that it would make the steering feel tighter, quicker, more agile.

Took the opportunity to fix my turn signal cancellation (finger was positioned incorrectly).

Now, having cleaned all of the lamp fixtures and grounds, my blinker relay works in the gauge cluster and externally, and turn signal arm cancels correctly.

Just some photos of the cancellation ring "for the record"...

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
