2019 Leaf Donor for Converting 1971 Roundie to Electric
I took a big step forward in converting my 1971 roundie into an EV a few weeks ago. I secured this 2019 Nissan Leaf via an IAAI auction that was just a few miles from home in NJ. I'll be harvesting the 40kwh battery pack and the 110Kwh motor stack -- which includes the motor, inverter and the PDM, or Power Distribution Module (on board charger & DC-DC charger) -- as well as the accelerator assembly. 2K mile tune up and dyno
Finally got the car on a dyno with some ECU tuning. Max HP to the wheels in the 140s.
Tunnel
Last progress pics before the Christmas and NY holidays. The new tunnel is being tacked in place. It's higher than I was expecting because the top of the s2000 gearbox is high and the workshop guys think it'll look best staying that high all the way back rather than dropping it down aft of the gearstick, and it'll make a nice armrest. I'm not convinced yet, comments welcome. It does fit the racecar vibe which the car will have anyway with no back seat, half cage, wide wheel flares, etc.
