My buddy sauls 69 restoration at the final stages! Baikal metallic looking GOOD! We dug into some wiring yesterday (everyone's favorite) couple little things to work out and she is rockin and rollin.IMG_1043.jpg

Totally personal, but I sure do like the Baikal.  Then it occurred to me- way back in the day, I had a 318Ti Sport that was Alaska Blue (while I was stationed in Alaska actually.)  It's very similar.  Great color.

Finished the rear and got it installed.  Also did new guibo, center bearing, clutch line, shifter rehab, brake lines while I was in there.  Did the front a couple weeks ago.  Sure does drive nice!

Installed IE water bypass kit for Webers. I got rid of the homemade version that  came on the car.

Also install @halboyles throttle linkage kit, great improvement over my wore out linkage, thanks hal.

Will need to fine tune the webers to new linkage, but car runs pretty darn good, happy  guy.

My favorite quote from Barney yesterday, "the two big condenser fans up front want to pull the car forward at a stop sign"

I told him we're going to need to get Tory a parka when she rides along. :)

Barney has had this design working in his head now for almost 3 years. " The usual systems just don't push enough air!!'  His other comment yesterday, "all the fans inside blowing in one direction create this vortex"  Go big, or go home, people.  I can't wait to see this thing in action when the 100 degree days roll in.

Congrats on another milestone achievement, Barney.

Ed

Barney,

Is that condensation or ice crystals forming on the outside of the car? ?

Loose: Not tightly bound. Subject to motion.
Lose: What happens when you are spell check dependent.

1975 Malaga. It is rusty and  springs an occasional leak.  Just like me.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
