What would you do if you discovered that your clutch master had been leaking in under your glued on cover?  Peel it off, or leave that brake fluid trapped in there?

Hey Tom, I've had this disagreement with many folks.  No biggee, but I still crave tacos.  If my reservoir level started to drop, I'd trace the lines and inspect the box inside and out.  Any leakage at the box would be an immediate fix and I'd curse the crappy clutch master.  I've got 4 years out of my restoration and no signs of leaks, yet.  I'm sure someday it will start to leak.  Hopefully I'll catch it early and won't have to replace the cover.  I think at least half of my box and cover were affected by leaking/weeping lines and brake master which drip fluid on the upper part of the box.

Because the box and outside cover are rarely seen, owners disregard them until they are a sopping mess. Mechanics don't even bring it up.  They just replace the MCs.  It doesn't have to be that way.

Is that clutch return spring broken?

It looks a little short on one end.

Did you order a kit for it?

Spring included, I believe.

Indeed it is, sharp eye. Kit inbound to replace all parts in the pedal box later today.

I'm going to skip the foam cover. The idea that there might be more NVH in this particular 2 because of it is not important to me.

Excited that our Austin Texas 02 cars and coffee attendance will grow by 2 02s!  Ellis and Kane, Barney text me your cell numbers and I've added you to my 2002 contact list.  Look forward to meeting you both!
