Five whole dollars will get you this at autozone:

Then you just cut a hole for the gearshift and it fits very nicely in between the two side panels for the center console!

You need to be slightly careful to not punch your beverage on an aggressive shift into 3rd, but then again if you're doing that, you probably shouldn't have an open beverage in the car at the same time!!! :D

Great innovations all.   Myself, I don't like to modify the 02 if I don't have to.

Generic cupholder + dense foam pad + heavy-duty 3M hook-n-loop to tunnel carpet.  Done.  Re-position at will.   Has passed the test of time with 20oz plastic bottles and Starbucks Grandes.

92-95 Civic cup armrest, they fit perfectly(with stock seats or recaros like mine) adds a nice elbow rest for shifting when you don’t have a beverage in the cup holder. IMO the material isn’t up to par so I would get it re upholstered in Vinyl or leather like I did.

Just installed one of these for the rare occasion when I want to have a beverage handy while driving.

Kroozie Kroozercups Bicycle Cup Holder 2.0 in Stainless Steel https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XGZBXH9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_W7TjBbAEF10EK

I installed it to my brake lever. Works great for what I need it for and it's easily removed with out any hassle or trace.

5 pages of cup holder talk - how times have changed.  I daily-drove a 2002 for 14 years, then moved up to the E28 for 15 years (while wife drove an E30), and never considered one.  Could be the fact that I'm not a coffee drinker, and don't feel the need to constantly have a beverage with me.  If the cup/can/bottle didn't fit between my legs or between the seats by the parking brake, I did without.

John,

you obviously haven't had a full cup of liquid between your legs, then hit the brakes too hard .... such makes one go searching for a cup holder design of worth & merit ....... ask me how I know ......

Cheers,

Carl

Half way into completing the install of my new A/C. In redoing the face of my center console, I have added a cup holder and covered the panel in black carbon fiber. Gear pictured is in reverse and clears the cup holder when extended. The face panel still has to be set in place.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
