Road trip with my brother. California to North Dakota.  Lots of open road.  Only 2 tickets.  One in North Dakota and the other in Montana.  They set up a road block for me in Montana as the first guy knew he could not catch me going up the pass.  The road block, on the other side of the pass, was a single Bronco blocking both lanes.  He said he was happy I stopped because there was no way he would have caught me in his Bronco.

I use to contribute during the time of 02 digest and roadfly.  I just joined 2002 FAQ after 18 years off the grid. These photos were recently found and taken in Southern California.  I am now older and the brain cannot remember the other cars.?   I know the owners of the 2 Chamonix cars?Email me privately if one of then are yours!thumbnail_IMG_20200806_223647.jpg

My 75 Euro spec Sahara 1802 that I had while in the Air Force stationed in Germany in the early 80's. Good memories were made driving this 1802 around Europe.  Pics were taken July 81 in Winnweiler Germany.  Car still has the old USAREUR license plates.  I'm a little out of regs having just returned from three weeks of leave (21 day Eurail pass in Italy/Greece).  The stock 13" wheels were repainted silver shortly after this pic was taken.  39 consecutive years of 02 square tail light ownership started with this car. This 02 is the one that got me started drinking the 02 Kool-Aid and inspired me to make my current 74 Sahara tii to look like my first 02 (Euro bumper conv, side marker delete) minus the 13" wheels.

Pumpkin run 2006.

OK, not that old.  But when do you see 4 tourings in one event?

That's my old 70 Euro spec Granada red E3 2800 (3rd from left). I sold it in 2013 for 11K. Since I sold it, It's been through three owners and been twice been on BAT for double the amount I sold it for.  I miss that E3, a great car. Very early E3, built 12/69 with a M30 motor and only one fan belt to drive the alternator.  Typical Euro spec, no PS or AC. It had a ZF 4 speed manual gearbox which early E3/E9 came with. Second pic is 14X7 Alpina wheels with 225/60-14 tires on the 2800. With no PS, slow speed steering was a gym workout with the Alpina wheels.

A forgotten photo from May 2006, taken in Wash Park, Denver (recently recovered from a Memory Stick left in an old Sony DSC-200 camera).

As for the car -- some things never change...some do... lol
