The ‘70 was the first one I had that could be driven, the first one I ever owned was a ‘72 Tii back in 1991.  It was intended as a restoration project for my dad and I so I could drive it when I got my license but it proved to be too far rusted so we parted it out.  Pics of that car #2760168 from ‘91 with Barrani wheels that came with it (my ‘70 came with the late original alloys..guess I lucked out with getting cool wheels)...

These images are from the mid 70's and early 80's.  My father had a '73 BMW 2002 and totaled it(he still claims it saved his life), and replaced it with a '73 BMW 2002 Tii.   I guess that is where I got the obsession from.  I got these pictures from him a couple day ago and am guessing from the pictures,  that his first 2002 was Riviera and his Tii was Fjord.  It just so happens that my first 02(2001ish) was a '73 Fjord and my 2nd '73 is a Riviera(Current resto).  I hope to have the resto done soon so we can go for a drive together.Scan 1.jpeg

winter 1978.  Norton, Mass.  Riviera '73 with snow tires on the back, CB radio and Boston Bruins sticker.   i learned how to drive on that car when it was new.  in about '79 the car had the roof flattened down when a large ventilation duct fell off a tall building near the Boston Garden and landed on it.  mid 80's the car was totaled in Mystic, CT.

In case folks wondering about that... That CT plate was in my family for three generations.  The letters were my grandmothers initials.  Had the FL version on my 75 02.

First one -- day I bought the car in October 2002 from the original owner, parked on the side of PCH overlooking Ocean Beach. Very pregnant wife grumping in the passenger seat. :)

Second one -- a few weeks later, about to take our first-born home from the hospital. The 02 was my daily back then. The first-born just graduated high school. :0

I showed this photo to my wife. She said “nice ass, show me your tits.” ? Meaning, she wondered if the front looks the same as mine. I too have a ‘73 rear bumper, same ride height and if I’m not mistaken you have Panasports as well. I have no front bumper and a Kamei.

Love the look of yours. Cool story on the plate too.
