What did you do to your 2002 today !

Discovered that the driver's strut gland nut wasn't even hand tight. A few whacks with a hammer and punch to get it snug, and no more rattly-clunk over every bump! Didn't even have to take the wheels off: one of those very rare times that a fix is easier than I expected.

Adjusted valves, then bought a new set of feeler gauges.  Notebook says it's been 13,200 miles since last adjustment almost two years ago.  As found, gaps were pretty good but a little loose, so no big surprises.  Might idle a little quieter now, but I always like the sound of tapping valves.

Drove the ole girl for the first time in 8+/- years tonight! Still getting everything dialed in but a nice hour session. Got the timing where it needed to be. Had a terrible hesitation until air/fuel mixture was just right.

Replaced both motor mounts and transmission mission mount with new OEM pieces and found the idiot's at the BMW dealership in 1984 put the passenger side mount on with the limiter backwards so it didn't work (explains why the fan and radiator decided to kiss).  Hopefully it will survive tomorrow's cars and coffee without any major issues.

Took it for a test drive and lunch and got lots of stares and a few compliments.

Went for spirited drive after adding new skill to my kit. Did a toe alignment using nice Longacre plates. Could have gone to tire shop for same price but wanted the experience

I knew toe was out but got a 3/4” number. Wow!  But even more surprised that single rotation of sleeve brought it to neutral

Road nicely and my new tires I am sure appreciate it ?

Was working on the drum brakes this weekend and incidentally noticed the passenger rear window was loose. Went to unlatch it when it broke the latch, swong out, dropped from the channel (no pins in the front holes) and dropped to the ground breaking it into small safety glass cubes!  Does anyone know where one might find original BMW glass and rear latch for my 1974 ‘02?   Man, was I pissed at the previous owner!

Oh man, that's too bad.  I would recommend putting an ad in the Parts Wanted section.  I'm sure someone has the glass and parts you need..  Good luck.
