Thanks for the perspective Andrew. That helps re-set my expectations about cost. Looks like I'll have to bite the bullet on these when the time comes.

If you have a tii, upgrading to a vented setup may be worth the trouble.  (E12 calipers, E21 hubs) Vented E21 rotors are readily available and are not near as expensive.

The upgrade is completely reversible if the need ever arises.

Centric shows this rotor for the tii.  Any idea if it will really fit?  They are available from Olympus Imported Parts here in northern VA.

I placed my bet on these rotors. Have not been able to fit the calipers . Has anyone had a similar problem?

Bolt circle - 4 x 92mm is your problem. Close but no cigar as they say.

That’s not a problem, IF you remember how ‘02 front brakes bolt to the hub.

All the parts are factory original except the rotors and replacement bearings and races. The problem is when positioning the caliper the rotor is not centered within the caliper’s free space (obviously  forcing it to one side and not allowing the mount to align , both sides same problem).  I was pretty certain that the races were bedded properly. The diameter isn’t an issue, it appears to be a dimensional problem with the offset from the mounting face to the hub.

Did you something like the factory manual suggests to snug up the bearings?  (see below).  Try comparing the "height" of the old rotor to the new rotor.  The height being the distance from the inside face of the rotor to the top of the cap.
