Tii Rotors Nla?

I got a set of E12 calipers (77 or newer) from O'Reilley's for $58 each.  They wanted $18 for cores.  (I had cores.)  I have a friend who got calipers for $42 each from Autozone.

I don't know if it's legal for racing, but installing early (up to 79) E21 hubs with E12 vented calipers and 77-only 320i vented rotors (or any 6-cylinder E21) will get you a bolt-on brake upgrade and available parts.  How much are tii calipers?  How about rotors?

I think sourcing the hubs would be the hardest part, and that's not really hard.  I got 2 sets from Sherman a couple of years ago.  And Ireland has the rotors, solid, or drilled and slotted.

Or wait for tii rotors to come back.  And buy 2 sets.

My original Q was because an F- production 2002 has to use tii rotors and calipers...

I keep thinking that my E-Prod loser would make a pretty good F- prod contender

because about all I'd have to do is take off the nice, big E21/late E24 brakes...

JohnS, would you mind taking a pic of the boxes, if you still have them?

Thanks,

I thought about upgrading to vented rotors, but I'm set on using my stock 13" tii alloys and stock 13" steel wheels on my tiis, so was afraid that the common vented rotor upgrade for the tii might not fit under my stock wheels.  I was also considering a kit that Walloth & Nesch sells to upgrade tii calipers to Turbo style and then use the Turbo vented rotors.  Does anyone know what type of hub is required for the Turbo rotors?  Also, would the Turbo rotors and calipers fit under stock tii 13" wheels?

@TobyB ... I'll take a pic of the Rotors and the box when I get home tonight.  The box is all white with nothing else on it except a cut-out spot.

Cheers,

John

I have no actual experience with this, but since the standard factory turbo rim was 5.5"x13" ET18 (and the optional turbo version of the alloy was 6"x13" ET13), I suspect that neither the early tii steel rims, nor the early OEM alloys, nor the later styled-steel rims -- all of which are ET26 or greater -- will fit over turbo calipers without some...modification.

But if I'm wrong, that would be good!

Regards,

Steve

Looks like the Turbo hub (part #31-21-1-103-797) is unique to the Turbo, just like the Turbo rotors are.  Since I have some spare calipers for my 3.0csi coupe, I guess I've already got some "Turbo Calipers".  Oh well, she's staying stock for now...

Just installed a set from Walloth & Nesch.  Seem to fit and be functioning fine.  No longer have the shimmy upon braking.  Not cheap, but better than trying to stop the car with warped rotors every time.
