BMW FOUNDATION’s 50th anniversary for the 2002s! January 31, 2018
I’m excited and honored to say that TESORO has been selected to be included at the BMW FOUNDATION’s 50th anniversary for the 2002s! I have arranged for TESORO to be there the second half of the year. I hope in this way, people from the East Coast can get a glimpse of TESORO too.. 😉

Oops I bought it.
After years of E30's (among other things), I got a line on a very well priced, running and driving 1974 2002tii. I inspected as best I could, paid the man and took her home. I'd like to bring this car up to a "solid driver" standard, which will include rust repair, a repaint, interior refresh, and addressing any mechanical issues. I'd like to keep modifications to a minimum and just enjoy the car as it was designed, but I'm sure there will be some exceptions.

Kick Panel Makeover
As the final piece of the interior make-over, I decided to try my hand in coming up with something that would house a pair of Alpine SPR-60's. I went into this project somewhat blind, not knowing if what I had planned would work. I did not want to place the speakers in the doors. I had made that mistake long time ago having the door hacked up to drop in a couple of 5" speakers. I had seen a few projects....

She's in the booth
After 4 months of prep, she's finally in the booth getting her new coat.  Hard to tell how close they were able to match that original Bristol.  We shall see once I eventually get her outside.

1969 BMW 2002 Ti Alpina
Well my BMW brothers and sisters, I'm falling down the slippery slope.
About two years ago I bought a 1969 BMW 2002 race car that had been  raced in the Pennsylvania Hillclimb association, and later extensively SCCA campaigned by Alan Dukes.   Alan was a racing friend of my Dads( they had both raced hill climbs in the 1960s)  I got to know over the years. I think I was about 10 years old when I first visited his shop  in Trucksville Pennsylvania.

At The Vintage:Another one for the history books
The Vintage 2017 was amazing!  Thank you to everyone who made the trek to Hot Springs to make this year the biggest Vintage yet.  There are lots of photos being shared over on our Facebook page but do yourself a favor and check out Reggie’s drone footage.  It really captures how massive this show was and how lucky we were to have such a beautiful setting and perfect weather.  Thanks Reggie! (Plug for Reggie’s Motorworks…visit their site to see what a true enthusiast’s  service shop is like.)

front subframe
We decided to drop the front subframe because everything needs sorted and one of the control arms is bent. After some cleaning, we’re now inspecting the subframe for cracks and so far it looks okay. (But we’re also looking at the reinforcement options.)

Are there any other problems here we should be looking for? And how important is it to replace the idler arm bushings? I’m reading about how the new (blue) ones don’t fit well on early cars, and ours is an early 1971.

coastal range rally prep for Ali's S14 '02
In preparation for an upcoming event on the central California coast, Ali Javidan brought his car up to the KoogleWerks facility for some special requests. Bouncing back and forth between filling production parts orders and working on Rick's pig cheek car (another story) in a little over a month we got a lot done. Here are some of the details (all items on Ali's "to-do list"

1968 Bmw 1600 Trunk pics.
I started pulling the trim off the car in preparation for sanding and paint. I vacuumed and installed a new light bulb in the garage.  Not a very exciting afternoon....but sometimes that’s.. how it goes.

Milestone Reached In My Project - Body Work (Pic heavy)
Hi Team,

Its been a very happy and exciting weekend for me. This weekend I brought my body shell home. It has taken me 18 months of work to get the body all complete. It was a considerable amount of work for a novice like me but when I look back at the effort I put in, it feels worth it. It is a major milestone for me in my project. Part of me also breathes a sigh of relief knowing that I have managed to get this far. Its been a really steep learning curve for me learning how to weld and grind and deal with parts that don't fit and all sorts of other stuff. Anyway, I just want to thank each and everyone of you all who have helped me with my bodywork....

Annual 02-02-02 meet at Alki in West Seattle
It is that time of the year again, our annual 02-02-02 meet at the Don Armeni Boat Ramp parking lot at Alki in West Seattle.  Save the date, Saturday Feb. 3, 2018, starting at around 9:00 a.m.  I may not have a car right now, but I have donuts and coffee lined up!

This is always a well-attended event, rain or shine (usually drizzle), and a great time to meet up with your fellow enthusiasts, kick some tires, and sell or buy some parts.  Last year we added a swap meet to the event, and I think it was a great success.  So let’s do it again.

See you in a few weeks!  Stu.
