"The Stance Thread"

185/60/13 Federal 595s

13x6.5 et8 Borranis

Front: Ground Control coilovers with Rabbit inserts. Struts shortened 2in. Adjusters about half way on threaded perch.

Rear: Bilstein shocks and IE race springs 350lb

Rear fenders rolled and fronts rolled and pulled. I tried to add pictures to show how much was pulled. Easier than I thought it would be but still some paint chipping.

I want to change to change tires to CN36 Pirellis 185/70/13 eventually for the taller tire. This height is scraping on speed bumps. not ideal.

I was searching this thread looking for a suspension setup that appeals to me (stance is priority)...this Is it! A few others agreed calling it the gold standard but coastalcrush didnt describe his set up...anyone know what it might be?

Would anyone have a photo of the stance of a USA showroom  car,  as delivered in 73? Maybe one of your cars when new about that time (not an advertisement photo).

As long as you don't make it any higher, I approve. That stance is epic.

How much of this look is the height of the car from the ground versus the fender overlapping the tire?

Dave.

'76, totally stock. Completely.

The box flares have a higher wheel opening so it looks the same height even though it's lower than a standard car

That's good info, thanks.  And think they're trying to make room because they know you're going to put some meaty tires under there?

But in general, how much of the car looking cool is because the chassis is so close to the ground vs the fenders overlapping the tires?  Which perception is it people are giving the credit to?  In general, not necessarily just with box fenders.

It has to be an illusion. My car is mocked up as low as it can go without raising suspension pick up points and the rocker to the ground is still 6" to 8" off the ground. That being said, it needs shortened shock/strut shafts to even work and or to modify pick up points. ps - that's with no bump stops either so.. no good.

Pretty sure his ride-height is non-functional, as @evil02 mentions.

I think for me it's the amount of tuck front and rear, and also those wheels are just a great match as well with the car. It just looks rad.

I still want an 02 with air suspension so I can park-hard, lay frame, and chuckle with how comically good an 02 looks slammed. But then actually drive the thing.
