What are you 2002 plans for 2020?

1) Sort out some lingering fuel delivery issues.

2) Center console/gauge pod redo.

3) Go to Mid-America!

4) Drive it, drive it, drive it.

5) Celebrate its 50th birthday on Nov. 30.

Plenty of other stuff I could do, but those are the priorities.

Man, I should be the last person to razz anybody! I’ve been saying to myself I’m going to install Layers former MM engine in my car once a month for ten years now ?

This is the year for sure, as soon as I fix the broken sunroof cable ?

  2021, 2022, 2023...

 Happy new year!

  • Finish the header & AFR sensor install I started just before Xmas. It's in place, now I need to mark location of AFR sensor, remove header, get bung welded on then re-install for real.
  • Drive
  • See how far off my seat-of-the pants jet setup on the Weber 32/36 was, then pull the carb & intake
  • Install the dual DCOE 40 setup I have sitting in the basement which are just waiting on the right primary chokes to arrive on the slow boat from Czech Republic.
  • Drive
  • Install the new MOMO California wheel I got for Xmas
  • Drive
  • Finish installing new door cards from Aardvark
  • Drive
  • Fiddle with endless bits that need attention
  • Drive even more

2019 was THE year I did all the work on the car, it just got finished for the final leg of work a few weeks ago and I'm going to keep it at the shop until the salt is off the roads. So for '20 the plan is to just drive the snot out of it.

Remove my temporary afr gauge and wire in the one I installed in the fasten seat belt pod last year. Repair the broken drivers seat so I don’t have a gangster lean while driving. This has the added benefit of making the gear shift easier to reach. Install e24 rear seat and make new parcel shelf, recover both. Might pull the rear suspension and pretty it up but that seems like a lot of work right now.

Do a nut and bolt, renew some fluids, plugs.

3 jugs of 100 octane in the back seat some 2 stroke oil drive to and from a couple open track days.

For the 1st time ever using r compound tires, always seemed like ice skating before with 350 rwh dialed in.

Planning on finishing auto to five speed swap in the 75 and driving to Mid America for first time from Ct. Hoping the transmission is good. Blunttech kit is awesome! Always other stuff while in there. Garage is cold but worth it to be fiddling with the 02. Looking to join up with Mike and others in Ohio for the trip down.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
