Started Good Old Girl for the first time since fall 2011. The good, fuel to all cylinders, warmup regulator regulating, oil pressure light goes off quickly, no fuel leaks, compression 180,175,175,175! Ran the car and got it warm. The bad got the firing order wrong, figured it out and cross threaded # 4, expletive deleted. I also have an oil leak that appears to be coming from the stud I replaced in the block that the adjusting arm bolts to, drip, drip , not pretty. I’m hoping that’s the leak. We decided to have a glass of beer then dinner and come up with a plan, retap the threads. All in all I’m pleased but so close...... Alex

Started on my diy flush turn signal project.
I tinted the first lense pretty dark but I may end up going with the original / amber color by the time they actually go on the car.
Thanks 02tradition for the donor housings!
Obviously euro signals would be nicer but for a nearly free project I'm pretty happy with the results! f9968ee0b0e1f67ed05fc263fb681823.jpgf541caa01b03aeaed812daeb67a8943d.jpgf2810f3bb58bea3b1ea0905d4f8f26bc.jpg

Worked on trying to install an e21 steering wheel today. I used 1/4 inch vinyl tape to create a line to cut the steering wheel trim straight with an angle grinder. I also used a piece from the old steering wheel on to the new steering wheel so I can have a working horn.

The only thing that I'm having trouble with is the broken tabs on the steering wheel trim. Should I glue it to the steering wheel or is there another way for it to hold in place? Also there was a spacer where the spline is located . Does it need to be there? Should  I put it back on??

Got the Esty carpet kit roughly in, just need a little fitting for the main front floor pieces.  Holy cow did it transform the car.  Yes it's nicer and prettier inside this way compared to yellow metal with black sound damping, but it SO MUCH QUIETER.  Drove it a little bit yesterday still trying to get used to it.  :)

Dave.

You drew that?  Wow.  ...and do you have copies?  I see a sideline business in your future.  I guess, now that I think about it, a person could probably cobble something together with images off of Google but I know I don't have time for that.  Great job !

I had fun today. I ran wires from oil psi and oil temp senders to the cabin, to be connected to the gauges in my console.

I'm waiting for my shift surround to arrive so I can complete the console, then I'll pop it into the car and finish wiring up the aux gauges and radio.

I ran the power lead from under the dash to the in-tank, electric fuel pump. I need to source the proper plugs for both the pump and the fuel level sensor as well.

Also, in preparation for a headliner installation, I fitted the front sunroof gasket, the one that hides under the headliner, the refurbished board that holds the domelight, and that little black strip that surrounds the sunroof opening.

My reupholstered seats should be done any day now -- Scheels for the front. And I've ordered a carpet kit from Esty, so things are starting to come together. I hope to be driving sometime during July.

Last week I had an alignment and tire rotation, no more drifting to the right.

The rear brakes were shot, I dropped it off at the shop yesterday and picked it up today. It stops on a dime now!

I finally got the fog lights wired correctly today. 6aa2d45fb7f2c734a36924497c928b20.jpg&key=4515cd3899c314a690d1f45571e5e38e3b368af778b28f227b9dece7271209024b7b7c87570294e6fc7decaeb7052ebf.jpg&key=82051ad0e5aa757c4c9396048023a03894c0e45eee889e3b753f3fa99cc9ecfe0bb7b20091f33a35d4d282c463ed7a77.jpg&key=c04b0b4066e8b9ab756267a9ed206f480fa35a8d2d456b3454890546cf616b04

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
