Once again......While your in there.

Putting Koni’s in the front struts turned into a complete front end suspension overhaul (as long as I have a lot of time on my hands during these times).  Everything is out and will be going for powder coating tomorrow.  Blunt has sent the replacement parts.  I didn’t want to drop the engine and this hoist kit has worked fantastic to leave it in - a few minutes and a couple turns of the screws and it’s secure.

That will take a while because this will hapen when I am on the dyno* to see whether I will go 29, 30, 31 or 32 btdc.

But nothing different from your approach just bending stuff to make it advance later and not so much in total.

*dyno is currently not availabe due to corona

1970 2002(ti wannabe) Project

New rear flex brake lines (old ones were constipated), new brake reservoir, new brake light switch, and a good enema for all the lines.  Firm pedal now.

Celebrated with Simpler Times Pilsner.  This beer is a sad excuse for beer of any style.  Drinking it is like making love in a canoe:  it's f@#%ing next to water.

Replaced my speedometer cable.

Since I started driving the car a year ago, the speedometer hasn't functioned.

I sent the speedo itself to Buz at Seattle Speedometer over the winter, and I replaced my cable today.

The speedo and odo all worked great, reading roughly 2 mph faster than the GPS speedo in my phone.

Hooray!!!

Out with the old. In the middle of replacing my car's original differential. It made no weird noises or sounds. As far as I could tell the only problem was it leaked from the input side. I'm not sure if I should change all seals and bearings or only the seals.  I will use this refurbished temporary one for now until I decide how to proceed with my original one.

Wow, that is a thing of beauty, Uli!!

What a crazy coincidence, I just cleaned and reassembled one of those last night.

I had been thinking it was silly for me to ask you that question and now I am really glad I did.

Thank you for sharing.

I don't remember the details but back in the 90s my 008 distributor went missing from a shop and they replaced it with this one.  It ran in my tii for at least 10 years.  Later I had it restored by Advanced Distributors before selling it and putting the proper 008 back into my car.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
