I took a wood turning class a few weeks back at my local maker space. I wanted to turn a shift knob and after about 5 practice knobs, I got one that I'm pretty happy with. It's walnut with a piece of baltic birch ply sandwiched in the middle. It made my car a lot cooler.

Refitted my light bar to work with the new turbo airdam. Flipped it so the spots are high this time and not low like they were before.

Also made a center console insert to incorporate my Brantz computer, usb, hazard switch, radio and headset amp. It’s much more solid now and one modular piece instead of generations of cobbled together inserts.

Cleaning up the trunk with laser cleaner. I figured out what setting works best for eating through the rubberized coating.  IMG_0434.thumb.jpeg.ccdd1a1106024c8dd95c275dbd5aeb4b.jpeg

Whoa 😳 that’s impressive! Are there any nasty gasses or smoke that comes along with it? What kind of cleanup is left?

after a long slumber and a full nut-and-bolt restoration of the rear subframe/driveline... Brunhilde is back!

She's now become the petrol black(silver)sheep in her electron powered flock. But there's still plans for that to change... ;)

While working on the idle issues with the S14, I noticed that the fan belt would sometimes slip on hard revs.  On further inspection, it appeared that the alternator pivot bushing was loose.  I pulled the alternator and pressed out the bushing, what a mess.  The rubber bushing had turned to black goo.  I replaced it with poly and now the alternator is rock solid.  Back to tuning my idle.

I wear a respirator and special glasses. I also have two fans that direct the smoke outside of the garage. The photo is after using the laser no additional cleaning was done.

It was a great morning for a get together and I agree, the NKs were definitely the talk of the town!

Ground down the welds on the inner sill patch and welded in the firewall/footwell/inner fender whatchamacallit patch. Welds are getting back to being acceptable-ish after I took a couple months off and took a couple steps back in ability. Next steps: grinding down the firewall patch welds, treating the insides of the frame rail with Eastwood internal frame coating,  and then starting to trim and fit up the W&N floor pan. Gotta get this done before the PNW BMW shindig on the 11th!
