What did you do to your 2002 today !

My best driving car has been waiting in the garage for me, first drive in my 72 Ceylon Gold tii in three months. With having rotator cuff surgery and the final prep to get my E9 coupe ready for the trip to the West Coast,  my 2002s have been neglected…

Continuing the transmission rear seals project which has become the gearbox rear seals and shifter project…driveshaft nuts off…

@its55, Tech Tip - You could have taken other 4 nuts (Guibo to trans) off so you only had to replace only 4 new nuts. That way Guibo stays with driveshaft. Clean drive shaft bearing with brake cleaner, dry air it and pack it with new/fresh long life grease.

Today I brought my new (to me) ‘68 2002 home ;)

She has been in a Swedish shed for over 25 years. Brought back to life in 2020 but due to a lack of use the previous owner (who is the son of the original first owner) decided it was time to sell.

It was a long 1.050 km drive that took us 2 days but she made it ;). A diamond I the rough, I might start a project topic…

this example proves the VIN number topic wrong, registered in Sweden in August 1968 with a VIN of 16124xx.. Production run topic states 2002 starts at 1650001..

thanks for the tip, it didn’t look like I had access to do that. I don’t mind buying all new nuts though…

Where is that bearing located, sorry I’m new to this and learning…😂

All around good guy, Barney offered up his shop to help me get my ‘72 Inka project over the finish line.

Knocked out installing a replacement wing window and crank mechanism in the passenger door. Someone broke into this car many years ago and screwed up that window. All good now.

Need to plumb the fuel system and install the intake runners and plenum. There’s really not a lot remaining… that’s what they all say.

I’m so glad to not be working out in the direct sun of my driveway!

Thanks, Barney!!

Put together my freshly painted (2K Hot rod Satin Black) front struts. The Konis were too tight from the factory, so I sanded the paint down a bit and used a brake honing tool on the inside of the strut housings. Added a little ATF and they slid right in.

Inside driveshaft nose. These parts are not obtainable, therefore you just clean it as one assembly with brake cleaner and pack it with grease.

Not so Sir.

VIN 1600001 thru' 1650000 = 2002s from Jan 1968 thru' Mar 1970. So your 1612454 is correct.

FYI VIN 1650001 starts the RHD 2002s.
