Oh soooo diluting the thread.  LOL

Pistons go in the engine that goes in my 2002. Last time I check the thread was titled “What did you do YOUR 2002 today” not what did you do to your all original 2002

I was luck enough to get it from the guy I bought the motor from he had it but it was never installed. Only issue was it didn’t include bearing so tracking down new crank bearings was more work then expected as both Turner and VAC said their sources couldn’t supply them any more. I was able to connect with a guy out of Germany on S14.net that was able to supply them and the 2.5L Evo head gasket. If anyone is interested in his info shoot me a DM.

sheesh…i didnt suggest any originality requirement. thread is indeed “what did YOU DO to your 2002 today.” so a box of stuff from the post means YOU DID what? retrieved it off the front porch? just kind of nothing to see here yet situation imo, but do carry on however you wish.

{{Fair warning -- there is dirt and rust in these photos}}.

Today, I installed 4-dot upper spring pads, to raise the rear end a bit.  The springs sit lower than I'd like, creating more camber than I need and the tread is wearing faster on the inside of the tires.  I made some 1/2" spacers that brought it up an inch at the top of the wheel arch, which is what I was hoping for.

My original lower spring pads had given out under the ends of the springs and they no longer sat flat on the rubber.

I only had one spare, so I made another one by cutting down an extra 2 dot pad I had.

I cut down the height to match the replacement but added an eighth of thickness, to help with the driver's side sitting lower.  I think that made a difference.  (I don't have any pavement here, so I'll take measurements when I am out and about).  The hole in the middle of the upper pads is smaller, so I traced a tuna can and cut to that line;

then rounded edges over a bit and added the notch in the bottom to key it in.

While the rear end was up in the air, I tightened the clamps on my exhaust patch and rotated things back into position, before clamping down hard on the U bolt to hold it there.  (One of these days, I'll install the fresher exhaust that a friend gave me.  Probably when I replace all the rubber back there... I've had those parts for ten years now).

I also tweaked the rear hanger to pull the back over some.  It sounds a little better now.

While the car was warming up for my test run, I noticed that the grille was buzzing, so I pulled it out and added two little pieces of hose.  It was just a bit too big, but sanding it down fixed that and made it quite a bit softer.  I made a lot of rubber dust today.

This is a typical trunk load, lately.

I think the added height should be about right.

Hmmm… I can’t imagine why your ‘02’s back end is sagging, Tom… ?

Best regards,

Steve
