got rear ended. Jon at Fenders & Fins is working on the repairs and Hagerty is ponying up the costs.  Fortunately the hit occurred directly in the middle of the frame rails (and below trunk lid) and resulted in no structural damage to the car.  Simple bang out rear, paint and replace all lights...

Got the car back from Jon at Fender's and Fins (bodyshop)... its as though nothing ever happened.

got my rear-ended car back today from Jon @ Fender's & Fins.
It's as though the accident never happened.  Also will add that Hagerty insurance was great on all this as well.

Someone not familiar with 2002's worked on this recently-purchased customer car (this an example of ignorance; there are plenty of examples of downright incompetence-bordering-on-dangerous, makes me curious who the seller prior owner/mechanic was). -KB

I've seen them put on backwards and missing, but that's the first upside down one. I wonder what they thought it was for? To protect the bolt?

Just like Volkswagen buses the rising price of these cars does make saving them more economically feasable. Whci is a good outcome.

Continued working on stripping the interior of the car, getting ready for some minor rust repairs then respraying and rust proofing.  Today I experimented a bit with dry ice to remove sound deadening, it worked pretty good!  I bought 10lb of pellet dry ice and was able to do the front and back floor pan and one side under the back seat.  Old floor mats worked pretty well to insulate as the dry ice was doing its thing.  Not sure if the video will work, but it shows how satisfying this process is!

Reminds me of the pristine 6k mile '79 Silver Anniversary Edition Trans-Am I passed on buying in the '90s.  That one is high high on my list of cars I should have bought but didn't.

Pulled into Discount Tire for a pressure check after noticing the front tires looked a bit low. The workers were quite interested in the car and seemed pretty impressed w/ it.  They found all my tires were down on juice.  Front's were 18 and 20 psi the rears were just a bit more.

Car coasts better now.
