  1. A lot of the bolts will shear when they are loosend due to rust, when installing them they are a tight fit and any miss alignment of the subframe or body due to accidents will cause one or more of them to cross thread with disaster following shortly.
  2. If I remember right they are 10 mm bolts so 55-60 ft/lbs would be about right
  3. That's your key/seat belt buzzer it's really rare to find one still in the car most of them were chucked into the neighbors pool by the first owner.
  4. Yes there is a realoem drawing for this, what is the problem your trying to fix these parts are really not subject to a great amount of wear they just center the drive shaft and out put shaft and keep it that way in case of a total guibo failure, there is no rotation and very little in and out motion as the guibo flexes.
  5. The drawings shown are for a early type of D/S later ones have the components in the nose of the D/S just as you thought, before you take it apart make sure the internals are still available they have been in and out of stock lately.
  6. Like Mike said, I pull of the top cover and fill the float bowl with gas (don't over fill ) and try to start when it fires up the increased RPM should be enough to get gas to the pump and your good to go.
  7. Wow I had no idea that the Sun machines got that kinda money had one just like it in high school auto shop, back when gas stations went from repair to self service and quickie marts you could pick up one for next to nothing
  8. Thank's Otis I'd forgotten about that it should be played to every high school in the country, I hope the shop crew is holding up well.
  9. He spent his entire adult life in the service of his country, OUTSTANDING job Marine you'll be missed.
  10. With no glass or wiring I would try to source a rusted or wrecked 2002 depending on your location it should be a money saver over trying to source all the various parts and as Paul said you get to see how everything was put together and that's a big help
  11. I don't know of anyone who has done this, the main problem as you know is the Tii calipers mounting holes are farther apart but not much only 1/2" if I remember correctly so if you pick up one mounting hole on the strut the second hole will interfere with the mounting ear on the strut and you wouldn't have enough metal there to re-drill a second hole and land on the ear, so the question is could you build a adapter plate that's stiff enough to hold the caliper and move it to another spot around the circumference of the disc (probably closer to the bottom) with the right offset to keep the caliper centered on the disc width wise. If it was easy I think someone would have done it by now.
  12. Those are casting numbers and might lead to the manufacturer but probably not to the grind of the shaft, any markings on the nose where the cam gear bolts on most grinders put the id marks there.
  13. Well C is harder to answer, the stock 1st over could be rebuilt again where the 90mm you would probably have to sleeve to rebore, but how many more times are you likely to rebuild an engine on a perfectly restored Tii, it's not going to get that many miles on in most cases. As to forged or cast I would prefer the cast piston for a street engine unless it was boosted or extremely hopped up and driven that way. Don't get me wrong forged piston have their uses, but they also have their own set of baggage. as for which Tii would be worth more, I don't know but I would like to see two perfect and consecutive numbers Tii's side by side.
  14. In Steve's scenario of the 2 identical cars I would take the one with the cast pistons over the forged hands down for a street or club track car why put up with the piston slap during warm up, however the link to Ireland is for there cast 9.5/1 pistons and their I might weigh the cost vs oem vs originality in a whole diferant light. Just my opinion, it's worth every thing you payed for it.
  15. Your right about changing the belt, but I think any m20 in a 02 you would need to remove the rad to do, you may be able to change it on a e30 with the rad in place but why would you?
  16. Unless the valve is made to be installed vertically and it would be marked if it was there will be a spring to seat the ball in a zero pressure situation
  17. Yes Your right Toby about the spring pressure it will have to be factored in, but he must be getting air into the system some where or the pump couldn't drain back in the first place.
  18. Yes it will work the best right after the tank outlet
  19. The Tii fuel pump plugs in to one and another one is for the fog lights if they were fitted at the factory, never figured out the third one.
  20. I use the same tool for that works perfect and then use it to pry the top of a celebratory beer.
  21. The clamp around the column is there to attach the panels that seal off the footwell, I think that plug is for a seat belt interlock relay but it's been a while since I've bypassed one.
  22. Stick your finger in there and see if you feel any grit, then flush if needed
  23. Yeah it's a little unusual on the construction style but it look mega strong.
  24. Reuse everything except the flywheel bolts if they are in good shape, I hate to say it but when it comes to fasteners i'll take the 60's and 70's quality over any thing that is coming over the average parts counter today.
