  6. Your problem sounds like it's the magnet that sits on the distributor shaft for your pertronix.... It's either to high or to low..... It must be even with the sensor.
  7. They hooked up the red or yellow power wire from your stereo to under the fuse box at your turn signal fuse for power. You have to move the clip to a better post. hth
  8. If you are running pertronix check the magnet under the distributor cap to make sure it hasn't slipped down the shaft. hth
  9. No you don't have to remove the dizzy to install the pertronix ..... And yes you can use the pos/neg post on the coil to give the pertronix power. Once you remove the points and condenser you have a blank slate to work with...... Install the base plate with the sensor.....run the two wires thru the whole where the condenser use to be and then place the magnet on the shaft.... Be sure that the magnet is seated so you can get your rotor button to sit all the way down or it will hit the distributor cap.....now use the plastic gap tool to set the gap... Put the rotor button and your done. hth
  10. I would guess that your idle jets on your 32/36 carb are clogged... Remove jets clean with carb cleaner and replace.
  11. Hey there Poloace, If you have never worked on cars before don't worry most of the systems on your car are bolt on and bolt off. Meaning you take off the old part and put on the new part. The first thing you need to do is go to Sears and buy yourself some metric wrenches and sockets because the right tools for the job is a huge time saver. Once you do that..... Relax..... Read the FAQ... and ask questions. With a little practice and confidence you'll get it.
  12. Keep it simple ! ...what did you do to it before it started running badly ?
  13. Or you could talk him way down because of the issues and use the savings to have a sweet tii.
