  1. Good points... I've also recognized that trend. I'm usually cautious with these posts cause it can be confusing for some of the newer members to use the search effectively. Maybe the default search setting should be set to search both thread title and body to alleviate some the redundant questions. KC
  2. Here is a pic of one... Just saw your post and had this laying in the trunk of a parts car. The "23" is the best indicator of it being a tii master cylinder if it is the ATE brand. KC
  3. All, Thanks for reading my rant and contributing your thoughts. Wether you agree, disagree or are indifferent to what I posted, I feel that I got my message across. KC Oh yeah... Otis can you ask you lady friend to move the rocket next time... It's blocking my view....
  4. Marshall, Honestly, your racing experience and common sense mechanical descriptions are excellent... But I agree. Please do you homework and seek additional knowledge before taking a post as gospel... (man, I really hope people already know this.) KC
  5. To All, Thanks for reading my post! I'm glad my simple reminder is getting out there... Bill W. gets it.... He is spot on with his post. If you didn't read it go back up and do it. The intent of this post was simply a reminder to think before you post. We do not want the FAQ ending up like others that would censor you for mentioning things like Schmutzfänger. Cough... cough.. roadfly... KC
  6. Please if you are not well versed in the advise you are giving, please keep you fingers off of the keyboard and let those that truly know help out. I'm no expert, but I know a little about these cars and BMW's in general and have witnessed some incredibly poor advice being given on many occasions lately. Until recently, I've felt that the forum has done a good job policing itself as those that posted incorrect or biased advise were quickly corrected by other members. Unfortunately I feel that we are loosing that critical aspect of this forum. This forum is a true gem and I for one would like to see it stay that way. Please think before you post... Sincerely, KC
  7. At our family shop we cringe when someone comes in with one of their motors. We have had many bad dealings with this company. My advice is to stay away... KC
  8. Pete is correct. Unfiltered air is drawn through the warm up regulator untill the engine warms up. That is why there is an air hose off of the regulator that connects to the bottom of the plenum. KC
  9. Hey Bro, The dude is f'kin with the karma boomerang... Once you throw it out there, it's guaranteed to come back and smack you in the head... Oh yeah... Its also on ebay. Check out the other thread as brothers Pinepig and CD have summed the car up pretty nicely. KC
  10. Car was listed on CL recently. Likely sold for a bit less then they are asking... Owners post here: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,50/page,viewtopic/t,333584/
  11. Wow that looks awesome!!! Somebody needs to hurry up and buy my fenders and stuff. KC
  12. They are easy enough to make but... Curt Ingraham used to sell some nicely machined aluminum spacers made for the task. Give him a shout and see if he a has any left. KC
  13. Depends on the date of manufacture of the car. I do not know were the cut off lies but BMW switched from the 121 heads to the e12 heads around mid 72. If you already have a set of pistons, get the appropriate head that corresponds to the pistons... bathtubs for 121/121ti and piano tops for the e12. Good Luck, KC
  14. Welcome to KC's damn compressor broke sale... First up a NOS tii (002) distributor complete with new cap and rotor. $350 Shipped. More Pictures: http://s197.photobucket.com/albums/aa165/71BMW2002/For%20Sale/Tii%20Distributor/ Next is a set of NOS Fenders. $700 plus shipping. Not interested in breaking them up unless buyers pool their $$ and I get one payment... (Only one pictured) More Pictures: http://s197.photobucket.com/albums/aa165/71BMW2002/For%20Sale/Fenders/
  15. The bottom pedal is for an auto or tii. I like 3M strip caulk for this application. KC
  16. You will definitely need the shielded cable. It needs to have two wires and a foil or braid shield around them. If you cant find any locally I can send you some tomorrow but you wont have it until monday or so... This is similar to what I used. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/22-GA-2-CONDUCTOR-SHIELDED-WIRE-M27500-50-FT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem19b811d1deQQitemZ110462357982QQptZMotorsQ5fAviationQ5fPartsQ5fGear
  17. I see that you checked the wires on your edis setup but (positive lead is the square side of the VR sensor body), have you tried physically flipping/swapping the wires on the VR sensor? I have seen some incorrect wiring diagrams out on the net. Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving! KC
  18. Are you having any interference issues? If not, what mike said...
  19. Sweet wheels! There is a picture of them in Macartney's resto guide. KC
  20. Bob, Those are some of the standard tii tools. 040 is the linkage gauge, 050 is the 5mm hook for the pump and 140 is to hold the warmup regulator up. If you are selling I would surely be intereted in the 040 as the one I have is home made. KC
  21. Jim, You will have no problem as long as you go with a qualtiy sound deadener. For this application I would reccomend dynamat brand, second skin and maybe raamat butyl sound deadening materials. The good thing with second skin is that you can call and talk to Ant (the owner) he's a cool no BS kinda guy. Rick at Raamat is also a great guy to talk to and will not lead you in the wrong direction. I almost forgot about Don the creator the sound deadener showdown website. He is a tremendous resource and also has a line of products available. http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi Avoid edead, brown bread, fatmat as they are not up to this application and typically contain less buty then advertised. Good Luck and send pics, KC
