3rd brakelight and best wood shift knob

Recommended Posts

CHMSLs:  I believe Daniel Stern Lighting makes a nice one, but many are also now using LED strip lights attached to the top of inner rubber molding holding the rear glass.

I think if you really want to be seen, this is a well-tested choice… 😄 6000 lumens kicks ass.

I have the same on mine, just fitted. Got it off eBay for £12. I thought it would be rubbish but actually it’s good. Super strong adhesive and super easy to wire in.

Yup, I agree with the big bar. I've been preaching these for a couple years now. Im 2 years in and happy with mine after many years of varying options and iterations! I may replace it with one that doesnt have the little voltage regulator box though like the older ones did. Otherwise, 10/10

I like my 3rd brake light purchased from member @halboyles it also has circuity to add a flashing sequence.  Not cheap, but it's well made and has kept me safe. Today drove 170 miles on the crowded I-5 in stop and go traffic and luckily no one rear ended me.

Not to take away from the awesome 3rd brake light pics… but with regards to shift knobs….

The IE shift knob was one of the last pieces I designed for IE before heading out.  The 5-speed emblem was specifically drawn up to pay homage to the period Aamco 4-speed emblem.

The knob shape was designed to resemble a slightly upsized Alpina knob, which I found to be a tad bit dainty feeling.

I hand turned some shift knobs with burl wood from over 1000 years old trees. I made custom brass and rose gold badges to complement them. I made these for myself but sold some to faq members. I’m not making these anymore but maybe this would inspire you to make your own.
