  1. When I had to go full rebuild I had the choice to either use my existing block and have both the top and bottom end rebuilt, or to go with a new, already built engine that had my same specs (292 cam, 9.5:1 compression). It came down to timeline more than anything. Rebuild would've meant waiting several months for parts (this was during covid) as opposed to swapping one engine for another. If you want, I can give you a rough breakdown of my cost. I'm in San Diego and the shop is in Orange County. Just shoot me a PM.
  2. Joined the "lower valence rust bubble club": The car is going to in for the bumper conversion bodywork at some point, so I'll have to add this to the list. If only I had the time, money and ability to weld and paint myself.
  3. Welcome! That's a very clean looking 02 you've found. I hope there's a lot of wrenching and modification in your future, it's one of the best parts about owning these cars.
  4. Wow...that would make for a nice addition to my car.
  5. She's good lookin! I should really check my build date...
  6. Color matched the strut bar to the body color this weekend
  7. Seconded, seems a bit complicated. If you are planning on removing the brake fluid from the reservoir, and replacing with new, you'll need to bleed the slave cylinder, as well as the brakes. If not, just make sure the brake fluid level doesn't fall below the clutch line inlet. Good luck!
  8. Secured some beautifully restored tail lights courtesy of @paulcain (thank you!).
  9. My torsion bar mounts are on their way out. How do you like the struts?
  10. Looks like most orange H&R springs are race springs. Can't seem to find Orange H&Rs that correspond to that part number though.
  11. Not a BMW color, but Porsche PTS Forrest Green Metallic has always been one of my top choices
  12. You could also reach out to Vintage Volante. He's only on Instagram/Facebook @vintagevolante but he is based on Europe, and has experience restoring Petris
  13. +1 to checking the clutch master. If you do find that it needs replacing, I would recommend also replacing the slave cylinder. In my case the new MC caused my already very old slave cylinder to leak. If it helps, rebuilding and refinishing the pedal box is one of the more satisfying jobs on our cars.
  14. In the rain to Cars & Coffee - buddy managed to catch this artsy (bad) photo of me cruising by.
  15. Good solution! One of these days I'm going to have a garage with an anvil.
  16. GC suspension setup is complete! Overall, huge fan of the whole system, especially the fit and finish of everything. I may raise the rears a little, but I love the way she sits now. Car goes to the local shop for alignment then that should do it.
  17. No luck, He did reach out to someone who he thought it might be, but apparently that member has a 69' 2800cs, "the first imported into the US" He said that the date should be on the sticker if it's one of the older ones. Good luck!
  18. I've been to the SDYC a few times, and I've never seen a car like this there. My friend's dad used to be the commodore. I'll send them the picture and see if he knows.
  19. GC Coilovers installed on the Driver and Passenger side. Just need to hook up the sway bar, and move to the rears!
  20. They're different between 73' and 74'. The earlier model years had a double chrome strip, vs the single chrome strip for the 74' on, among other minor changes. Early Late
