Which other BMW?

I never thought I would own a BMW!  Now have 4.

73 2002tii purchased December 2006

69 2002 purchased April 2012

2011 335i purchased June 2014

1991 318is purchased November 2019

I do admire my neighbors tangerine 1M. It has a loud Dinan exhaust and cross drilled rotors.

An e39 M5 would certainly be nice, now that gas prices have come down.

Money no object it would have to be a clean and unspoilered BMW 3.0CSL with the early carb'ed engine.

Would no doubt raise the bar somewhat with it sitting next to my two BMW 2002's and my BMW 3.0S Bavaria...  ?

But if we're keeping it within financial reality, I think I may have added the right BMW to my garage just last December.
A fairly rare, European-market-only '98 BMW 323ti Compact with the factory M-package and Individual colours.
Was this not the world's first small hatchback sporting a 6-cylinder engine and RWD??  I certainly can't think of an earlier model with these attributes.  A fabulous niche market and in my humble opinion the last BMW to deliver a truly analogue driving experience...

Oh, and I have a set of freshly restored 17 inch Style 22 "BMW Motorsport" alloys which are about to be fitted...

Am I the only one here who had no idea such a car even existed?!

That is gorgeous, but the 6 makes it fabulous!

Great find, Anders!

Best regards,

Steve

That is cool.  I bet it is really fun to drive.

@FunElan might like that one.  He tries to get the world to buy 318tis.

It is indeed a fun little car.  Of course not quite as analogue as our beloved 02's, but still a fairly light and compact (no pun intended...) car.  To me, it's the true successor to the 1971 BMW 2000tii Touring.  And yes, with the 2.5-litre straight-6 pushing a stock 170hp to the rear wheels through the E30 rear suspension, smiles per mile are certainly guaranteed...  ?

Guilty as charged. The ti is so 02like, yet just modern enough to be comfortable for long haul stuff (and it literally hauls). @02Anders your car is beautiful! I wish mine had the straight 6. What's that blue called? Looks just like my montreal blue.

For a while, it was my 1987 E30 as the sidekick. Now, it's my 2014 Mini. However, I'd still like to own a Bavaria and I'd still like to own a late model E30 325is.

That is why I picked this up over the past summer.  Of course in the US no 6 cylinder e36/5's were imported and if you wanted one, it was either get one from overseas, or do the swap.  I found this one in central Jersey.  The swap had already been done.  2.8 6 cylinder. Around the same hp 170.  I have auto crossed and done track days with my 99 318ti and it has has quite a few suspension mods, but was lacking in the power department (obviously).  This one is in the process of being turned into the track car and I am about half way through switching parts from the 99.  This only weighs 65 pounds more than the 4 cyl so i am anxious to get it out this summer.  The M44 handled like a dream, I am interested to see what this will do with 40+ hp.

Last pictures are of my "other" wish, which I was able to make a reality 2 years ago.  2011 550i (F10) M Sport package, RWD,  not an xdrive,  6 speed manual. Wow, that is a fast car!  400hp twin turbo V8, adjustable suspension, heads up display...lots of fun!

Thx!  Same can be said about your 318ti though - looks great!  ?

I must confess though, the 2.5-litre really does transform the little Compact - both on the Autobahn and on the twisties...  I guess the M-package doesn't hurt either.  Suspension is a bit firmer and the sports seats hold you tight while still being very comfortable.
Mine is indeed Montreal Blue as well.  To be honest, I'm not entirely sure about the whole Individual thing.  I just know it has the Individual sticker in the engine bay.  It's probably just the interior??

Ok, owning and driving an E36 318ti, an E36 318i, and a 2002-

the rear suspension on a ti is just... (heresy warning)  poo.  poo.  poopoopoopoo.

The 'real' E36 rear is so much better.  so.  much.  better.

That said, the 318ti IS a blast in the wet, as it'll go sideways in an instant.

I wanna stick an N52 in mine when I blow up the M42.  Just because N comes after M,

and the N52 ECU just got hacked.

Continue to love it, by all means.

I want to try the E46compact.  THAT might be interesting...

...Civic taillights notwithstanding.

Did you guys get them in Canukistan?

hee

t

please, continue loving the ti's.
