What did you do to your 2002 today !

Recommended Posts

Spent the morning removing instrument cluster from Survivor and installing secondary grounds on Temp/Fuel gauge.

Worked like a charm, feel a lot better driving now knowing the temp gauge is behaving properly.

I finally got around to fixing my driver's side door brake on the 74tii using the parts from Brendan Pramono.  So stoked to have a working door brake on the Thrasher again.  Thank you Brendan for making the parts to fix this! ?

The bracket on my 74tii had completely broken loose years ago...  I drilled the mounting holes and then applied a little bit of primer.  I also put a little bit of closed cell foam behind the bracket to close the gaps since my bracket was completely broken out.  Worked great!

Also already had the modifed Mercedes door brakes that Harry Davis sells.  Those work great too.  Much less pop than the current ones available from BMW.

Recently my low beams stopped working, simple clean up of the relay contacts solved that issue.

Dumpster diving at work I found a nice long water hose completer w/ fittings. Brought it home and it's a keeper. My old hose was not long enough. Today I decided to give the car a wash after a long drive today and a lot of road grime. Good to notice after today's drive there are still bugs flying around.  Unlike Hans Joachim Stuck my bugs were on the front of the car.

I also purchased a new washer for my vintage garden hose nozzle I grabbed from my parents house years ago.

I've never been a fan of the body colored painted fiberglass bumpers that came on my car.  I'm thinking I should just paint them chrome/silver this summer during painting season.  I think everyone knows they are not real metal bumpers anyway.

Started it

picked up a 71 1600 3 years s ago that had been sitting for 20 years outside at the beach, previous owner had motor and trans rebuilt drove it for a year then hit a cable in front when fan and radiator met so didn’t fix it, sat at my house for 3 yrs due to some setbacks. Boxy mike on this board helped with some body work and timing issues and she roared back to life. A Blasko rebuild awaits.

Final prep today, my two sons are stopping by tomorrow morning to help install the engine in our 72tii Ceylon Gold…using the IE five speed kit seems very solid.

Passenger side outer wheel bearing went south Wednesday night.

Replacement was pretty drama free.

Figured out I have e21 hubs but not sure of the vented rotor yet.

The disc hold down screw broke and new one is to big, so need to figure that out.

PO used half the amount of grease so I have new wheel bearings for driver side also, just to be safe.

It was a great day at the Barney & Sons shop. We were gettin’ it... Barney somehow gashed his forearm and cemented the claim that “his blood, sweat, and tears” are in this car.

Unless you need help with settings other than the base fuel table, there is no need to do it on a dyno.  30 minutes driving with the Haltech will auto-tune it in most areas of operation (except for balls to the wall loads that a little longer).

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.
