Prepped it for Hurricane Florence. If I have some time I’ll raise it up from the floor some more, but we’ve already been told to evacuate in my particular neighborhood.

I’m praying for those south of us in the Carolinas. Be safe!

Wish I would have had enough time to do the same but my ship had less than 12 hours in port to prep. Luckily we're in zone B and on the edge of C...

Grizzlebar

Yea, I saw most of NSN and Little Creek went underway yesterday. Hopefully we don’t see extreme flooding and your family/02/property will be safe.

I live in Zone A, I’ll be sticking around the area with family in Zone C.

Got a little bit of time in the tent again today.

The leading edge of the floor pan Is nailed down now. I ground down a few welds here and there. I finished plug welding the outer flange of the pan to inner rocker.

Oh well, I’ve got patch panels to fix it.

Today I wired up the AFR gauge under the hood and put the volt meter in place of the LED that was not flashing and low and behold it pulsed!

(EDIT: Arrgh!  "Lo and Behold"... thanks for the spell-check Ray)

I either had a bad LED, or did a bAd job of wiring it in the first time.  Soldering in the driver's foot well is a bad idea.  I did a better job on the bench, the second time around.

I found a couple of rectangular LED lights inside an old Makita battery charger and I chose the green one.

I had to make a new plate to hold it, since the first one was round,

001.thumb.JPG.95273d56f7cdb7390994bd8d3c50eb30.JPG

but that meant making a slot and I did not have a saw that'd easily do that.  Now I do!

I am excited about my new key hole saw :)

This grinder/cut off wheel cut that hack saw blade like nuthin.  It comes in handy quite often.

I've only taken one two mile test drive with the meter running and I learned that I am slightly rich, mostly running between 12-13.  It feels like a big can of worms I just opened up.

I hung the LC-1 on the fiber board insulation with a zip tie and the carpet mostly covers it up.

The LED/push button is dangling alongside the console.

For now, the gauge is sitting here, with a wire running up to it.  Crude but effective.

That doily was a recent gift, left on the seat by the wife of a guy that asked if my car was for sale.  He said she makes hats too :)

(one of these days I'll straighten that parking brake lever)

Nice!!  I am getting ready to buy a set for my three pedals. Are you crafting all 3?  Taking orders ?

Please post more pix of install method - thanks

Also attached my new key fob from my sister in law who just bought an X1. They nail you on price and service but give you TWO key fobs and coffe cups when you buy. And who said they aren’t a generous company

And got my heat booties and installed. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but might help and they do add a little bling under the hood.

I'll do a write up, I was looking at the other two pedals and it seems like it's worth doing just to make them match. The gas will be mounted with the simple gate hinge method. I had to cut out the stock floor so might as well avoid the nubs.

Well, this AFR gauge is going to keep me entertained for a while.  So far, I have only tried one change and that was to lower the float by 1 mm to 41 mm.  I am not sharp enough to have noticed much difference, aside from the deceleration situation going a bit leaner with it set lower.  I think I will put it back at 40 mm and start swapping in different brass bits; starting with the few that I already have on hand.

Since I plan on removing the top of the carburetor again and again and again, I modified this bit holder to keep the driver tip aligned with the screw head (added a plastic spacer).

009.thumb.JPG.4009e70755afda9cd40f7be6e08c053f.JPG

This allows me to spin them off really quickly without slipping off or buggering up the screws.

011.thumb.JPG.194110f3422f36d5e67e001fc584d3a1.JPG

Running them back in is fast too, but I start them by hand and finish them with a screw driver.  Someone had modified the tip of this old Proto and it is thick enough now to fit these screws nicely.

012.thumb.JPG.5b59d0dbc6335fa504fc648bc494682c.JPG

As a side note, I'll put in another plug for a product called Rust-Off.  I am thinking of using this old tin to put extra brass jets and things in, but at some point it had had gotten a little wet.

001.thumb.JPG.4e511e5d32ce8d1d5ce97721179848ba.JPG

I dribbled a bit of Rust-Off in there and used a little paint brush to swish it around.  I am quite pleased with how it came out.

020.thumb.JPG.cd5a3723f8c892a9d257ddb980042c9c.JPG

It does a really nice job of dissolving rust stains out of painted surfaces.  I also did the stand for the Sun testers I found and it freshened up that rust-frosted surface as well.  Maybe not appropriate for museum restorations, but fine for the junk I drag home.  Fun stuff.

I used it on the e21 steelies that were on my car (before installing the powder coated stock wheels that Patrick sold me... with the tires that Andy gave me).  It brightened them up quite nicely.

(the stainless beauty rings sure do chew up the paint)

Imagine what it would do to Carl's rims!

Finished installing a new radiator (3core) + hoses, followed by a segmented 3 hour drive with straight distilled water, let it cool, drained that water and refilled again with distilled water. Not sure if I'm satisfied with the results as the intent of the swap was to help achieve a 3 o'clock temperature reading during normal driving conditions.  The indications below were during a night drive, low 70s outside and after about 45 seconds at a stoplight,  the temp will drop to the desired 3oclock. Exact same thing will happen on a 90 degree day.

On another note,  freshened up the cockpit with a laced steering wheel and rubber shift boot.
