I own a square tail with the "diving boards" and love it.  I appreciate both frankly. I love round taillights on cars but there are times when they look odd to me on an '02.  You get used to something and when you see something different it can look out of place.  I do like the smaller chrome bumpers as well. 

I feel the same way about MGBs.  I've owned both and love both.
