Put the finishing touches on the trunk. Had to adjust the fit of the new plywood panels, added the vinyl to the wheel wells and the panel under the battery.

There was vinyl on the wheel wells originally? Never seen that.

I'm missing my whole antenna and everything along with it -- will I be able to install this one, or will I still need some extra parts?

From what I understand (probably from Mike Self), dealers installed radios and antennas with whatever they had or could get.  There are many different antennas that were used, with some being installed on the driver side and some on the passenger side.  The one I posted on the previous page is the one that was an exact match for the old antenna that was installed on the passenger side of my A-Pillar.  It may match yours, or it may not.  The back of the packing (below) shows a few other models, along with their wire/screw location measurements for reference.  I dug around on the webs, finding other various part numbers from the same vintage manufacturer (Harada), and was able to get pictures with measurements of their various models.  I think they were a common supplier, along with Hirschman and other radio manufacturers.

Here are some more detailed pics of the one I bought.

Under the heading "no good deed goes unpunished", this is what I did to our tii:

I was backing up a hill to help jump start another newer BMW owned by my son-in-law. I was not exactly watching what I was doing, and I had not noticed he had moved his Ford Econoline van from where he parks it normally. Did you know that the steel bumper on a Ford Econoline van sits height wise in-between the knee trim and belt trim on a 2002? I managed to pretty much wipe out the entire right side of our tii by backing into said steel bumper. It was not a good day.

But there is a happy ending, sort of. When we bought the tii back in 1996, it was in need of repair. The outside was 3 or 4 different shades of Colorado, the engine leaked oil everywhere etc. My son Greg was rear ended on his way to high school, and we decided at that time to disassemble the car and have it completely repainted. Unknown to me at the time, Dupont Colorado and Galsurit Colorado are two different shades of the same color. In fact when parked next to Blunt's car at the time, mine looked like Inka. Fast forward to today, and the inflated values of tii's, my longer term goal was to disassemble the car once again, strip it, and have it painted in Glasurit single stage Colorado. If tii's  weren't so damn expensive I wouldn't do it, but the car deserves to be correctly painted etc. Unfortunately, I am recovering from shoulder surgery and cannot work on a car yet. I also have a '88 e28 535is that I am re-assembling that will be my DD, and needs attention before the tii. So no 2002 to drive until probably summer 2024. dang.

This pic doesn't show just how badly I screwed up. Tears were shed.

Used the built in Nexus/Elite software, I read the full load and inrush amps to the cooling fan and adjusted the fuse and soft start settings in the Elite+PD16.  Inrush amps was 12-13 amps and continuous current draw was 8-9 amps.  Set soft start to 3 seconds.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.
