Apropos of which, while I have named my car Fjord, I am considering a name change.  This car was owned by a father and then his son in LA before being sold. Their refresh did not dive deep enough, however to find this.  Ah, remember the 70s, anyone?  If not, this may be why.

I came to raise my hand, but vote for Zouavei in honor of the soldier portrayed on the cover.

Talk about apropos, this is page 420 of the thread!

That is kind of perfect.  Inspired, in fact — why didn’t I think of it?  We’ll call his regiment “The Fighting 420th”. Vive Le Zouave!  Now I just need to figure out how to add that name at the bottom of my messages.

I washed the ‘76. I actually washed it, for the first time since it returned from the Big Re-Paint in June 2018!

Under the excuse that washing can damage paint, while driving is good for the car, I delayed and delayed and delayed this first wash. But it looks much better. It was starting to look like a barn find!

Steve

Today I took the cluster back out after having fixed the odometer (for the second time), since I had neglected to align the trip reset shaft with the little knob when I put it back together.  I had tried to set it back to zero when I filled it with fuel, but no joy.  It works now though.

I also celebrated the successful tire plug patch by putting the cap back on the valve.  I'd left it off for convenience, since I had been adding air almost every day.  It sure is nice not to have to do that anymore.

Did you bypass the resistor wire that went to the original coil?

(It has a clear jacket and looks like a yellowed strand of speaker wire).

nope.  I just matched the wires to their positions on the Bosch that was there. Not sure if it was original or not.  Seems to run happily enough.  What’s it do?  Thanks!
