Hello,  Looking to chat about my '72 2002 automatic. Its a one owner car purchased in 1972 and owned by the same owner. Never retitled. I have the original title, the first registration card from purchase in 1972 and every year since! As well as insurance cards. Original manual, tool kit, spare tire.... Original survivor. Colorado Orange in an automatic. I'm in South Jersey if anyone is near and would like to chat about these cars.

Well, you came to the right place.  Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the FAQ.  It looks like you found a really nice one.  If you could post some more photos, it might give us more to chat about : )  A photo of what is under the hood would be fun to see, for example.  Did the original owner work on the car?  What do you know of its mechanical maintenance history?

Welcome to the '02 fraternity/sorority...Roundie automatics aren't very common, especially those that still have their A/Ts.  Most have been converted to either 4 or 5 speeds.

This is a great place to learn about 2002s--literally thousands of years of expertise reside here, so don't be shy about questions--and the archives are great too.

If you send your VIN to BMW Classic they can tell you the car's original manufacturing date as well as when it was turned over to either the selling dealer (in Germany) or to the importer (Hoffman Motors in the US).

cheers

Pete33,

Welcome to the group.

Lots of fun, lots of great info to be found here. (Use the search function; it works!)

If you don't find the info you're looking for, all ya gotta do is ask!

Enjoy! And drive it often...

-Bob (also a '72 owner)

Welcome and congrats, Pete!

And it LOOKS like a one-owner car as well!  Great find.

Where in south Jersey? I just moved from Egg Harbor Twp a few months ago. Somewhere around there is an Inka 72. I saw it around town once in a while.
