  1. Saw that. He advertised it maybe 6 months ago, very fair deal from what I see, surprised it didn't sell back then.
  2. I called Roger this morning just after nine, left a message inquiring if he had a water pump for my tii. He called me around 10 saying he had one in stock. I drove over to his place and had it in my hand by lunchtime, was good to see him.
  3. Thanks for posting that article, provided many interesting rabbit holes.
  4. I need to borrow one of your guys 02 so I can do just that….BTW, I prefer the chase scene in Ronin…and not because it has a 5 series BMW being chased..
  5. Buy my 73 bus driver steering wheel I have in my shed..
  6. Best of show in the Safeway parking lot.
  7. Why?..juz askin as I regretted selling my 73..
  8. Thanks for an interesting update. After 5 years without an 02 in the garage I picked up a very nice 74 Verona slicktop tii last July for 27K. Has the 5 speed OD tranny mod, non working Behr AC (everything is there, faceplate in perfect condition, plan to make it operational), front seats need to be re done. She drives like she’s new. Based on what I just read I think I did OK.
  9. I certainly understand the OP's frustration. I've bought and sold countless items off CL, cars, trucks, motorcycles, et cetera and every time I list something for sale I take a deep breath and mutter "here goes..", as I too don't like the first words out of a perspective buyer's mouth to be "what's the lowest you'll take". I bought my 74 tii from a CL add last July. The price was mid thirties, I responded at the three week mark. I was familiar with that very car, as I recognized that it was owned by a good friend who had it from the late nineties to maybe 2004. I'd driven it back then, she drove beautifully as well as looked excellent, and still does. I contacted the seller, had a nice long chat with him. I called him a few days later (ad was still up) and asked if he was at all flexible with the price. He asked what I had in mind, and I told him high twenties. He said come on over, we could talk. Two days later the car was mine, fair deal for both parties.
  10. What a difference 50 years make..
  11. The motor has a fair amount of torque, I occasionally start off in second (mostly when I’m still going 2 mph at a stop sign), on a flat road. The only damage I can think of would be to the clutch (but you’re gonna replace that when you do the conversion…?). Lugging the engine excessively certainly won’t do it any good though..
  12. I'm changing out the period incorrect steering wheel on my newly acquired 74 tii, and the washer that sits behind the locknut that holds the steering wheel on is missing. I'm guessing (hoping) that maybe I can find one in the metric section at a nearby hardware store, can anyone give me the specs as to the thickness it needs to be? I've looked online for one but no luck so far...thanks.
  13. Thanks, that's (almost identical to) the wheel I want to replace.
  14. Would like it to be in good working condition with functioning horn components etc. Other steering wheels would be considered if someone has them, car currently has a 72-73 "bus drivers" wheel.
  15. Great turn out today, over 130 cars of all makes, several 02s…Was fun talking to lots of folks.
  16. Found this a couple weeks ago. It’s the same car that a buddy owned in the early 2000s, and I would see it being driven in Marin County before he bought it. Drives like new, original blue plate car, slick top (bonus) and has the G245 speed mod. doesn’t need much - seats need re upholstering, has a 72-73 bus driver steering wheel (gonna replace that, needs a new belt (15380? Has non working Behr AC system). Love the Verona color..
  17. Horrible story, my condolences to the family/anyone that knew the person. A few years ago I was parked and unloading my tractor and noticed a guy under his car changing his oil, the only support was a floor jack. I walked over and said please put a jack stand or anything to support the car in case the jack failed. Guy looked at me like I was from Mars. I honestly tried..
