  1. Beautiful tii. I parted with my 73 tii using BAT last August and feel your pain.
  2. Beautiful, but priced a bit energetically IMO..
  3. That's the saddest story. Very sorry to hear that. Like others, he helped me lots and I considered him a good friend. Mental illness has to be addressed in this country.
  4. Very fair IMO. You can certainly offset the price by selling the Inka. I recently sold my 73 tii that looks very much like this one, had a few minor rust spots that did not change/grow in the 24 years I had her. If the malaga checks out running/handling wise I don't think you'll do any better for a 73.
  5. Congratulations, hope she drives as well as she looks.
  6. I did sell the car for my reserve of $25K. Several people PMed me and one guy showed up early on the last day of the auction, looked at it and we went for a long drive - he loved it (what's not to love?!?) He bought it not long after the auction had ended. He got a very nice tii. I've never marketed a car of this caliber. Had her for 23 years, put a ton of work into her, was surprised at some of the troll like comments that were made, maybe I could have marketed her better but I thought I had covered all bases.. but oh well. I disclosed everything.... She will be missed! Truth be told, I have my eyes opened for a (straight bodied) 02 that I can use as a daily driver, can drive in the rain...will be fun.
  7. Good questions, Tom. My tii was IMO gorgeous - was on BaT until last Wed, did not reach my reserve but I had more than several people contact me including one that checked it out prior to auction's end (I did not divulge my reserve) and it did NOT reach my reserve, but this individual did gave me my reserve (had 3 people in the wnigs waving the same amount).. That said, the day after I sold her a buddy said he knows of 2 round taillights behind a house in the weeds and I said let's buy em! (probably won't happen - too good to be true) I would love to have a straight bodied old 02 that I can just cruise around and not really worry about it. One that I can drive when it's raining... I've had a true beauty (will miss her) but would love to have an old carbuerated (spelling) cruiser to bop around in. Round or square taillight. My eyes will always be open. But a big reason for selling is that the wife n I want to do some traveling with a travel trailer...and I'm a serious dirt bike rider and am tired of camping in a tent (winter is dirt riding time - gave up skiing for a dirtbike 10 years ago) and a TT would be awesome for some of my dirtbike adventures. That's it. I still have 3 other vehicles, 3 tractors and 2 dirtbikes to satisfy my habit for the immediate time being. No apologies.
  8. With some sadness I just sold my 73tii after having her since 94. The last several years she was only driven 2 - 400 miles annually, I kinda lost the enthusiasm for her. This is a great site, have learned a lot and met some great people here. I will continue to lurk, however...
  9. Unfortunately I am unable to pick up the car today
  10. I just called them, was told to call back tomorrow at 0800. I have room and a trailer to haul it home. We'll see..
  11. If the VIN checks out and the car is in decent shape this is a good buy.
  12. Have no idea if that's the case or not. I don't come close to their (Hagerty's) mileage restriction so it's a non issue for me.
  13. Hagerty allows (my policy anyway) 2500 miles per year. Mileage restrictions like that are common with classic insurance carriers.
  14. Couldn't agree more. Before switching to Hagerty 5 years ago Progressive would only pay me $6K if someone ran into my 73tii. It's now insured for $30K for approx. $300ish per year. Bargain IMO.
  15. Sounds like a loose connection....Happened to me before, all dials went to zero. Pushed everything in (connections) and she fired.
  16. Pierce, congratulations on your 02 and for your future excellent adventure (driving her home that is). Guy and Worcella's advice is good, and make sure you have a decent spare and that the jack works. As far as what local roads to drive, there are so many.....I dunno, I'd just start driving her home and not push her too hard. Maybe get an oil change prior to the trip as well.
  17. Am guessing that Mill Valley BMW morphed into Sonnen BMW...could be wrong, but a shout out from the Bay Area... Thanks for the story, Mike..!
  18. Beautiful looking specimen, glad you drove her home vs having her shipped!
