After looking at posts from the last 13 years about batteries for our cars i finally bought one.

I did go to Costco but Costco no longer has Costco batteries. They are Interstate for about $80 and do not have our size.  So i bought a battery from the dealer as many recommended.

I asked for 61 21 7 567 181, but that is no longer available and was sold 61 21 2 353 803.  The battery was black, and i was really hoping for a white one :) List price was $139.99, somehow it only cost me $104.20.  i will have to send my fiancee more ofter for parts.

The battery is the correct width for the battery tray, but a bit short.  My guess it will probably need a spacer.  At the moment, the tie down is holding it nicely in place

Good info.

Looks like a 26R series which fit the cars well, doesn't get mashed against the master cylinder. I have a Bosch battery in Vern with a modified factory hold down, forget how much is cost for the battery.

It looks like the following batteries will fit:

26R, 42, and 47

If anyone have a photo of either of those in the standard factory location, or another battery in that location, please post it.  I'll throw an article together for the future readers.

I've been using 26R batteries for at least ten years--they have more amp hours than Group 42, fit just fine and are available at common places like Wal Mart.  Haven't tried a Group 47.  The price leader for batteries at least in my neck of the woods is Rural King--their 26R batteries are about $20 cheaper than Wal Mart. There a Group 26R is significantly more expensive than an identical Group 26 (same battery with reversed posts). They're the same price at Rural King.  Go figure.

I've been using Sears DieHard batteries over the years.  This one was purchased April 2012.  It's a 24F or DieHard #33023 and replaced a Diehard #33035 (sorry, don't know the size group) purchased in year 2002 which is no longer available.  This 24F one is rated 700 CCA and is stronger and slightly longer than the prior battery.

For the "Hard luck" people going to the MidAmericaFest, there is a battery warehouse north and east of Eureka Springs. Go north from the single lane bridge, turn right at the tee intersection for a few miles. It's on the south side of the road, big sign. My battery crapped the first year there in 2006 while vacationing before the event at Holiday Island and I got one there. It lasted about 7 years.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.

Group 47 only fits non-tii's, Paul.  And some have found even larger sizes that fit the non-tii's.  But for a tii, 26R is your boy!

"anticipation of hiring a crane"

Pheeeew, that on this side of the continent my friend is called getting a cherry picker!

We hire Cranes usually to clear up mess left after a bridge collapse.

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
