I'd like to see the whole car!

Were color matching rims and body a thing for Opals?

Get outa here Steve.  That color makes a boring steel wheel look pretty cool!

It’s the white wall tire that really makes me puke. The Kermit-green rim can easily be re-painted black or silver… 😉

Give me two weeks with that car and I’ll “bring it into compliance” (known by Andrew, as “make it boring”)… 👍

Best regards,

Steve

Not until Mr. Whitewalls let his 4-year-old pick his Opel’s paint scheme… 😋

My worst fears are now confirmed! How do I un-see this? 😳

Not a car. A child’s toy, whose accidental exposure to radiation caused it to grow by a factor of 83X. Not going to waste my money on the movie… 😯

From the factory you could get color matched wheels, as long as you ordered a Schwarz paint😁.

For some reason the split screen photo is even more disturbing. Like watching an exorcism or something..you know, the green vomit... Well, now this thread is all goofed up again and off track! @JohnP_02 we are just having fun at your expense. And since Steve has finally gotten out of bed, well, there you go!

Best regards,

And I was hoping for an Opel GT Stingray or something...  Those square headlights make our square tail lights seems pretty tame by comparison...  At least no dreaded diving board bumpers, ha ha 😁

  • 4 weeks later...

A friend donated some e30 centre caps when he came down for my Provence Tour at the beginning of the month (thanks Ralph). Jut got round to trying them- they fit great on the front, but on the back they could do with an extra 1mm in depth. They fit and I can't see any safety issue, but the midde of the cap "just" starts to bulge as they contact the hub nut. This in turn puts some creases in the borrani stickers I bought.

As the wheels were cheap and are brush painted, the rest of the slightly tatty car is my daily beater, the caps were free and the stickers were about €5, I think I can live with it 🙂

I also fitted some Winter rubber today, and went down a size to 175x70 to minimise a buid up of frozen crud this winter when it takes me skiing.

I also had the same ctr cap problem fitting 100+ wheels on my Touring a while back. I bought a pair of 3mm 4x100 wheel spacers for $15 to fix the problem.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
