  1. Racers cheating??!! Surely not.
  2. My Blue Books are snowed in. Can some kind soul look for the spring dimensions: length, diameter, etc.
  3. there is a little square nose on the head under the spray bar with a line. The cam sprocket bolts should be parallel to head surface. Best bet to look down bell housing hole when you're in the ballpark.
  4. I went to local bearing shop and got a bag of 24 for a few bucks.
  5. I'd say finish the E28 first and see how you feel about another resto. As delicately put above, keys will be the last of your headaches with these puppies. Cyl heads may be worth something.
  6. Hmmmm. Not so sure it's NK, which I believe all have straight outlets. That bracket does not appear original.
  7. Plus changing them in situ is a pain.
  8. Very nice. Reminds me of the one restored in NC ? several years ago and documented here.
  9. I used them for several years, and solved a drive-ability problem by removing them. Frankly I don't notice a difference.
  10. As stated, big challenge is tightening lower stud washers to correct gap. I've gone back to paper gaskets.
  11. I can't see how you should be able to move the spring with the weight of the car on it. Something going on there.
  12. In re-reading your orig post, did you mean the springs wiggle when the car is on the ground?
  13. I like Toby's idea of strut bearings, or some binding up there.
  14. I may have a few bushings in ottawa. Seem to recall Rockauto had them at one point. Dropping subframe invites scope creep if main bushings are rusted to big bolts. Removal tool easily sourced at lowes, home despot. Use plenty of PB Blaster. I got duss bros to do main bushings on NK CS. Bushings fell off but I've read tales of needing the torch. No need to drop subfame.
  15. Whatever you replace, I'd start soaking the nuts and bolts NOW with PB Blaster. By lifting the back seat bottom, you can access the ends of the front bolts for the thrust rod. I see only one picture of the side of the bushing, which is steel. What are people seeing that looks like wear? Normally, you want to jack on the rear crossmember and front frame rails, or middle of the front crossmember and support on frame rails, i.e. avoid the rockers and floor.
  16. That said, it's hard to see much in those fender mirrors, which is why I converted to E9 Door mirrors. But I wasnt thinking that originality might count 30 years later. I wonder what fuse #6 controls on the 55k (gulp) garage queen.
