  1. There may have been residual sealant from previous replacements. Thread chaser is your friend. The upper row of studs needs some sealant to prevent oil seeping.
  2. As above, 16A may be too much for the size of wire used on the various feeds. What kind of fuel pump is it? Can't imagine it pulling more than 8A, but I've not looked at specs on my cube style pump. AS suggested, if you are concerned about the pump, put it on a relay with separate fuse. Otherwise, use 8A until it blows, and see if there is some other reason.
  3. well there you go! Another happy customer. Just keep an eye on the push rod clearance between booster and MC.
  4. So they match the narrow bolt pattern (vs tii)? E21 master would be a good match then.
  5. they might be early fronts, but hard to tell scale. They look small. Does the bolt pattern line up with struts?
  6. "Front 3 lines go to front and rear, back 2 are the 2 to front in case of failure"..... I think you'll find that all five ports and lines are being used. The idea is that if one piston, or cylinder, or brake line leaks, the other half of the system will at least function until you get to a garage. As Toby says, it may be better to stick to something proven. And I wouldn't trust the hand brake to stop the car from any speed in a straight line. The size of the MC should be matched to the size of the calipers and pistons, which you can see by perusing the shop manual specs. Using the E21 MC has been discussed here in the past.
  7. Why take a chance? AS above, ,if this was the last one, maybe see if it works. But If the bore where the seals slide is compromised, the schock is toast.
  8. Depends on brake system configuration. An 02 with tandem system - if memory serves - had half the MC doing two of four front pistons, the other half did rears plus other two front pistons. This meant you'd have half the system working if one side failed. I'm not sure what would happen if you plugged one half and used just the other for three out lines; but I think it would unbalance the MC. With bigger calipers, maybe the E21 MC will work. Check Rockauto..
  9. The master was there when you got the car?
  10. does it have an idle control valve?
  11. i have to take meds after the salt truck goes by. The ones from Scotland work the best.
  12. I found the garden sprayer with a rigid pipe was more controllable in the enclosed areas.
  13. Lophobia a real problem in this neck of the woods. See above for other places. Inside the frame rails for sure, rockers front to back, rear wheel arches from inside trunk and backseat, ....look at pics of rusty 02s for inspiration.
  14. There are a few fans in the neighborhood. Looks very nice - getting rare up here.
  15. What Toby said. I used Waxoyl, don't know if its still available. It is however still in/on my CS after 35 years. You want something sprayable. Do up inside car's nose section too . A and C pillars. The bottom of my car was sprayed with something like bumper guard, but that should be sprayed as well. Forget the concours - think about preserving the car. Garden sprayer for enclosed sections, big hand sprayer for open areas.
  16. I would leave the drains clear and seal whatever else you can. I'd focus more on areas that are splashed by front/rear tires and any obvious mud traps. I sprayed inside the rocker cavity with thin undercoating in a garden sprayer.
  17. So what happened when you switched sides? Did the issue move? Maybe this was discussed, but are you sure the bearing components are seated properly in the hub? AS above, the wheel needs to be turned as you torque nut, then back off slightly. Slotted washer should move with screwdriver.
  18. don't forget to soak fittings with PB Blaster . Cutting the hose makes things easier.
  19. I don't recall anything between 4 and 5, but maybe my car didn't have one. You might be able to fabricate 10 from pipe.
  20. I think it is a new MC. Seized cylinders is a possibility, easy enough to see if pistons move back into bores. Odd coincidence that both were seized. But I'd change flex hoses before tearing into the MC . My clutch hose once did that : fluid appeared on bleeding, but not enough flow to operate clutch.
  21. I used a bavaria wiper motor by drilling on extra hole in the bracket. I also incorporated intermittent wiper system.
