  1. I was expecting Toby's input to rhyme. I have also had warnings about using gaskets that have been sitting in the garage for many years.
  2. If it's the wrong hub, its the wrong hub. All i know is that any 2002 or NK I've seen has a pin in the hub for the horn, and my Momo hub sits flush with the steering column housing.
  3. i gave up on check valve and went electric. i considered wiring/plumbing it as a booster pump, but decided might as well go all out. I used a pressure regulator.
  4. Yes, I think it should have a spring loaded pin to rub on the circular plate on the steering column. Later models like E21 I believe had two rubbing discs.
  5. That hub picture shows no horn button. How does that work? Try crowther for spacer.
  6. Very nice interior but some weird mods. Perhaps 2002 calipers which are smaller than CS. I believe it is a CS with different induction system. Still, something to keep in the Hagerty insurance file.
  7. And what's with that brake set-up???
  8. I recall having to trim the end of the BMW horn button.
  9. A bit early for Halloween. Yes, sounds like sender is shedding parts.
  10. Well you might want to think about doing the rest. Replacing the hoses may have increase pressure to the calipers/cylinders. And make sure system was thoroughly flushed.
  11. I've had same issue and recycled old ones. Clean threads and clean tip with VF emery paper. Make sure they don't have a visible groove though.
  12. HBchris to the rescue. Looks like the 140s will fit. Thanks. I have some E30 Billies lying around - does the upper end fit NK upper mount? Travel?
  13. Do you mean the stud on the car, or the bushing in the shock?
  14. I've been trying to confirm the lower bushing ID as 12mm. Some sites list the 140s as fitting 2002, but those are 10mm.
  15. Schnell How old are those? roughly?
  16. Well dang, your mechanic beat me to it. I've had that pipe weep too. And in case it didn't get discussed, the cover on the wire is because it is hot; the ground doesn't need one because nothing happens if it shorts.
  17. Other than the coating of oil from the open valve cover vent....
  18. Please stop showing those pictures! I'm embarrassed looking under mine! If you can get teh Billie numbers, would be appreciated. I'm trying to confirm what fits on the lower stud. Did you sort out the twisted moto thing?
  19. HYas anyone installed Bilstein rear shocks from current offerings? Bilstein 24-632140 ?
  20. Boil the buggers. Spoon or metal shoe horn works to get it over the post. Test for leaks before you install on car. Oh, and wire brush half shaft where boot sits. BMW used to sell O ring for mounting hat; or go to local bearing shop and see if they can make O ring to correct size. Silicone works in a pinch. Be very careful with the clamping ring. I finally found asymmetric CV joints and will donate my early halfshaft collection to charity.
  21. No, not lack of use I'd pull the wheel and drum and look for source of fluid. Could be rusted or loose pipe, hose, or blown wheel cylinder. Did those get replaced?
  22. I'm in the choke user group, makes starting much simpler. even in warm weather. But thousands are happy thumping the gas pedal a few times. I used a long generic cable, left of steering column, big 180 turn (be careful of battery/alt), and on to carbs. Can't see the benefit of buying new cold start units myself.
  23. I believe that is the same as any single circuit NK.
  24. BMW sells a spacer ring to move the seal slightly forward so as to avoid any groove in the crank (if it exists).
