  1. Thanks for the kind words Jim! I had a lot of help along the way, but I really love this car and it was worth the effort! And rob, I had a high mount 3rd brake light with 40 LEDs and it was illuminated the day I got rear ended while stopped at a light. Both of my cars now have the 02 LED lighting kits which are insanely bright---if these won't help, nothing else will!
  2. Some of the Indiana people are roosting overnight north of Knoxville, and will head East Friday AM with one stop at the Wheels Through Time museum in Maggie Valley, NC in mid-morning. Please contact me if you'd like to join this group. Ben
  3. Please post some photos of your car! Great for your stock ride, and the correct 165R13 size, as delivered new: https://www.universaltire.com/vredestein/165hr13-vredestein-sprint-blackwall-tire.html
  4. I need a 74 sticker too if you get some made up.
  5. Mike, have you checked with your local independent tire retailer? They usually have access to many brands/sizes from their distributor--maybe they could order you something?
  6. I was thinking about getting a set of these "Made in Holland" Vredesteins for my early alloys, a true 165R13 w/ H speed rating (130mph) $84 Each from Universal Tire
  7. I like the idea of this a lot. Only problem is the start is 6 or so hours from home. Please keep us posted! Ben
  8. I need a new stock muffler for my 68 2002 and was trying to determine if the Eberspacher tii unit would fit or is the diameter larger than a standard 2002? I have 02 Again short header, stock downpipe & center muffler. The last time I bought a new muffler from BMW it was a Boysen. If anyone sees this, please reply and let me know about the fitment. Thanks!
  9. I have the short wire "motorcycle" version hidden inside my dash--it works fine for my needs in the metro area where I live but I mostly use the DIN cable Aux-in wired to my Blaupunkt anyway on trips. There is a ridiculous amount of wound up wire inside each plastic tube, and it does not require external power.
  10. Hi Mr. Mike - I'm spending time knocking cobwebs off the Chamonix 68 and look forward to seeing you this weekend on the Cincy/Kentucky drive.
  11. You'd have a better chance finding a three-legged ballerina than a hotel room.
  12. I suspect the insurance rates vary by geographic location. If your are in an area where known losses are more common for classic cars, (such as tossed in a shipping container and exported never to be seen again) you will probably pay a higher rate. I also imagine that they are smart enough to know that someone in Minnesota who only has a 7 month driving season compared to your 12 would be a less risky client to insure and they should and probably do pay less. I like Hagerty, no problems in 8 years.
  13. I ordered this one in 2009 and it arrived in a super-giganto box. If your panels are not boxed for transit, who knows. If they come out of the box with dings, I would ask for them to re-order until one arrives that is worth installing. Do be prepared for some massaging. They don't fit all that well, especially around the taillights.
  14. We are not smart enough here to hack it, it must be done from afar. This is what you are missing:
  15. I remember that the site was hacked over and over again last year by less than savory characters from overseas, so I think they had to lock it down from tourists.
  16. Email Sent on Steering Wheel w/ request to purchase. Thank you, Ben
  17. I have L & R rear euro seam covers, 51 12 1 803 274 & 51 12 1 803 274 and I'm attempting to install them on a early shorty rear bumper. Pictured below, it doesn't look like these covers fit without substantial bending. I put light pressure on them and I hear cracking of chrome. From what I've been able to research, these *should* fit, but I can't figure out how they work. Some early seam covers have a bolt at the bottom that goes through a little hole, this version does not. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? 18. I have a first grader who attends an IB World School. Very cool program.
  19. All you need now is a heard shaped hot tub and you'll be set. Looks Great!
  20. Not familiar with these, but they are super cool. 1985 date code? Come back with on car pics! B
  21. Hi Mike, I know I've stayed at this Best Western in the past, nothing fancy, but close-by. If you don't have another discount source, try “Corporate ID Number” 01399660 as it will get you a no questions asked discount for being a Touchstone Energy Cooperative customer. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g49680-d94962-Reviews-BEST_WESTERN_Salem_Inn_Suites-Winston_Salem_North_Carolina.html
