What did you do to your 2002 today !

Continue chasing demons. Progress!
New head is on and chasing a surging idle. Thinking vacuum leak first. Checking tubes and manifold and definitely some leaks. Took it all apart and much better but still leaks. Spraying carb cleaner on manifold makes idle rise so that’s a problem, given all the bolts have already been checked for tightness and torque.  Maybe manifold is cracked?

Did you use new gaskets on the plenum and manifold?

Yes! All new gaskets on manifold/head, manifold/tubes, tubes/plenum, TB/plenum.

My plenum is missing the 90* support bracket and a friend suspects that might be enough to stress the tubes or manifold (since the tubes are all that are holding up the plenum). He gave me a spare complete intake he has to test it.

This Saturday we spotwelded both halves of the rear right shocktower and outer wheel well together.

We did have to take a little break in between since the spotwelder was getting quite hot.

The rest of the body also got cleaned more and finally sprayed with inox spray, next Friday we both have taken some time of from work and will finish placing and spotwelding the panel in. Then it's on to the outer sill

We also went through our parts to get everything together that need to be chrome plated.

She's in storage till the Spring, but when I have extra time, I like to tackle little projects.

For example, last month I upgraded my tail lights to LEDs, but, as we are all acutely aware, the foam seal between the tail lamp housings and the lenses are shot.  So... I stepped up to the plate and purchased two OEM seals via Pelican Parts and voila!

The rounded corners were  a tad challenging, till I used a wee bit of weatherstripping adhesive to hold them into place.  Now - my taillight restoration is complete!

Then, I had the time to restore my license plate holder and lights.

Some light sanding, a utility knife to carefully remove the hardened plastic covering the wires, some shrink wrap tubing, a can of flat black Rustoleum, stainless steel hardware, and lamps from RogersTii and VOILA!

All I need to do is connect the wires and re-install!

It's the little things... when you love the 2002, she loves you back!
