Also fulfilled a long held dream by picking our girls up from school in the ‘02. Definitely created some smiles, this bright orange spectacle, among the multitude of people haulers. We cruised around and got some of their favorite slush drinks before starting homework…

That is so awesome.  Cannot wait to do the same with my boys.

Maybe some trunk or treat fun as well.

I remember my best friend’s parent’s classic Ford truck, great great times to pass on to the next generation

Today was successful …Nine hours over three days to get the title / plates to a car off the road for 34 years. 75 miles on the car getting state and VIN inspections taking it for a legal  ride tomorrow morning.

Yes! Just like it was passed to us, the cycle shall continue! You will love it and they will remember it forever.  The whole experience with the ‘02 is thrilling-they can actually SEE out of them unlike most modern stuff. I contrast it with our otherwise great but snoozy Toyota Highlander: “you can go places in anything, but why not make it fun?”

I’d definitely participate a SoCal ‘02 trunk or treat! We do that with our YMCA Adventure Princesses/Father Daughter program every year and there are some fun cars in attendance

I pulled the front bumper off my car last night. It sticks out really far and I want to bring it in closer to the body. I also pulled the spacers under the front struts out too and now the front end looks a lot better.

I threw the bumper on the workbench and pulled the mounts off. I was hoping it would be a straightforward fix to shorten them, but the geometry of the mounting positions is more complicated than I hoped. Modifying will require some careful chin scratching. I don't want a wonky bumper. Maybe finding a set of short mounts is the right move.

I took the car for a spin yesterday down to a tire shop to see if they had any decent 13" tires and on the way there a lady in a truck said "Nice car!" and then a guy pulled up next to me and yelled "Is that for sale?" My grin grew about 14% wider as I shook my head no. 😎

another giant day, installed door cards with needed clips from BLUNTTECT this morning and took the street legal 72 Ceylon Tii for a drive on my favorite Cow Creek 60 mile loop…no parts fell off that I noticed.

Sunday changed out the first oil in Ceylon tii at a 125 miles and took a 65 mile ride that afternoon…today went a little farther from home a 125 loop to turkey bend park on the Colorado river and then back down my favorite cow creek Road ( 14 miles next to creek) but in the opposite direction it seemed like a different road. 310 miles on car to date.

Project creeping. After discovering exhaust leak I went to remove down pipe only to find it wasn’t coming off until it and the manifold were on the bench. Exhaust shield nuts promptly snapped off except for one. Exhaust manifold nuts were also a bitch to get off. Started sorting out the issues one at a time. Now it’s off to the hardware store for new fasteners

Last week Ken (Zouave on the FAQ) and I had a sunroof party...both our cars needed new sunroof weatherstripping--his just along the back edge, but Wolfgang, my '69, needed it all the way round.  Both required removing the sunroof panels, best done with two people to prevent scratching, both removing and replacing.  In addition, Zouave had a loose seam along the back edge of the upholstery panel that's on the inside of the sliding sunroof panel, so we both had a learning experience removing and replacing it.

Other than than that, all went smoothly except wrestling Zouave's upholstery panel back into position so it could be clipped to the sunroof panel.  Several minutes of grunting and groaning and using all four of our hands, the upholstery panel surrendered and popped into place--without breaking anything, or cutting ourselves on the very sharp edges of the upholstery's metal frame.

Wolfgang's panel exhibited no such difficulties, and we attributed the difference to the thickness of the upholstery material--Wolfgang's was the original, thin material, while Zouave has a renewed headliner with thicker material.  But all is back together, the sunroofs work famously and all is right in the 02 world--at least for us...
