I'm in "stuck mode" until I figure out what to do about my radiator - repair, replace with an OEM or go w/ a non-original aluminum ... preferably I'd like a nice, used leak-free OEM for a hundred bucks!  Don't laugh, I just missed getting one ...

-1 for a bright aluminum radiator in an otherwise tasteful engine bay!

Dope steering wheel!

Well that took way longer than expected. The hardest part was removing the flex disc bolts. They were pretty chewed up already and I ended up fitting a 1/2” socket on them instead of 13mm. Every so slightly tighter fit and with that i was able to grip enough to unscrew them. Definitely getting some new nylocs. After that I tried my best to push the upper flex disc link up the shaft, but it would not go past a certain point and there wasn’t much room to pry. Finally just said “fuck it” and spent all of 10 minutes pulling the under dash panels off and unscrewed the column bolts. A little yoink on the steering wheel and POP! The flex joint separated and I was able to pull out the steering box. Now to clean it  up and replace those seals! Of course that pitman arm is going to be a task all its own. Plenty of posts about good things to try so not too worried.

@flagoworld I just finished removing, cleaning, resealing and installing my steering box. The steering arm just needed a bunch of free-all and my harbor freight 3 jaw puller did the job. I just needed to grind the hooks down to get them to fit between the arm and box to provide good enough purchase.

But what’s the most frustrating is that I replaced the seals with the IE kit and I still have drips under the car from the steering box. Not pulling it off again though.

I did the same, but don't have it in the car yet.  I think my drips, maybe yours too, are coming from the metal plate shims under the square cover.  It was recommended to use some copper gasket spray to seal those up.

I’ll look more after cleaning but it looked completely dry around all those parts. The input shaft seal is what was clearly leaking bad.

I’ll careful to check for pitting on the shafts, and to check the other gaskets to make sure they arent leaking 😭
