leather aprons when welding

Ah, it's gas welding- it only pops and sparks if you screw up.  Very civilized- until you have an acetylene leak.

Gas welders (the people) can be really talented... I wish I knew where Paul Camp ended up...

I went looking for an Otisworthy pic, but the filters here at work are too good...

Where you really want a long leather apron is when you're welding sitting down...I have matching burn scars on my thighs from sparks that burned through my jeans while I was sitting cross-legged welding up a new lip on the rear wheel opening on my '69.  I now have a long leather apron--and tuck my feet under it when I'm sitting.  Nylon socks don't stop sparks either...

BTW, I hope the blonde girl on the far right isn't gonna weld in a skirt...her tights aren't burn-proof...

Animals and welding... I remember a tale of a welder working in a horse barn, or near a horse barn.  Story goes that a horse stared at the arc the whole time... went blind. :(

That Touring has a LOT of panels replaced... yikes.

Yep, that's how I see it.  Especially the ones on the tops of your feet where slag ran down inside your shoe and... sizzled....

The women at the beach really dig those scars...
