  1. That should find a new home very easily. I hope that the new owner will keep it mostly stock due to its rarity.
  2. You can park it in the garage and ignore it for a long while or you can sell your 02, but you'll be BACK. Wilkommen!
  3. Guys: the Denker-McCarty B&B will be available to fellow 02 travelers next April.....
  4. When I watched it, I managed to have nostalgia for a time when I was just three years old. I definitely remembered the look and feel of that era through my little person's view of the world. Universal Studios was reluctant to release the film. They didn't know what to do with it. (!) The budget was held to $770,000. It has returned more than $150 million. Many of the crew worked for free and for film credits at the end of the movie. Cars used in the filming could be had for as little as $25/day. Filming was done very quickly in Petaluma, Modesto and other sites throughout California.
  5. Perhaps you could get some of the other drivers to make statements as to the conditions at the surprise! construction site. That would certainly help with your insurance claim. (I think!)
  6. Congratulations, Larry! Though it's not Sahara, I love what you've done with your tii!
  7. Greg: We need to meet you: Sahara 2002. Living in Ohio. Attended PVGP. You should join the RGB....!!
  8. It would be a quick flip, Mike.
  9. A fair number of us have urged Mike Self to fly out to California, buy a '76 2002, drive it back to Ohio, have some fun driving it for a while and then with some relatively easy cleaning and refurbishing, sell the 02 for a nice little profit. It would make for a good story, right? The 2002's in the Midwest offered for sale tend to have problematic rust/bodywork issues....
  10. File that photo under: "nobody's perfect." I famously had an embarrassing moment with my 2002! (In my case, a John Deere tractor was absolutely essential toward extricating my 2002 from a mucky cow pasture!)
  11. A very dapper dude with Dad's new 2002 on Sunday after church. (Madeira, Ohio - probably March, 1973)
  12. Congratulations and best wishes on your rebuild/restoration project!
  13. It all came out smoothly in the end....?
  14. You didn't buy it from Select Classics by any chance, did you?? ?
  15. I'll admit it, I have a bias against the majority of such classic car dealers... (I might trust Wayne Carini, but I just can't afford his cars! Love his show, too... ) If you want this particular 2002 badly enough, you must have it carefully inspected by a genuine BMW 2002 expert. Personally, it screams: WARNING, WARNING, WARNING!!
  16. My blinker is intermittently and unpredictably staying lit and then mysteriously behaves for a little while.
  17. I saw the ad too. I was startled that the woman was running 'her' classic 2002 through a car wash. I washed my dad's '02 by hand in the 1970s and have always washed mine by hand as well.
  18. If we're picking here, it is spelled Concours, not Concourse, okay? For such top dollar, I'd certainly want this tii to be as original as possible. This was clearly pieced together from several non-73 2002's over the years. (which is okay....... but not for a 'show winner.') As the 2002 becomes more sought after, originality is going to be more and more important to those who are shopping for a 2002 that's ready to show and go.
  19. As to the color: Sahara looks different in different lighting/settings. Sometimes it can appear more brownish and sometimes it will appear more yellowish, depending on the lighting... I think that it's a legit Sahara (albeit repainted). As to the price. Big bucks. It needs to be in excellent condition to deserve that much $$$. 1. Rust?? Big consideration. Expensive to fix. Look closely. 2. Dents/Dings/Crumpled steel anywhere on the car. Bent frame? Mangled suspension? Expensive to fix. Check it out. 3. Engine. Overhauled? Tired? Totally shot? You need to know. 4. How much love and attention has this 2002 been getting? Deferred maintenance will cost you plenty. It's also going to be pretty unsafe until the basics are set to right. You need to know. 5. Red Interior. You need to LOVE that look because it's 'unique' and everyone that you meet at a BMW event will have opinions on that interior.... Be ready. I had a '75 Sahara 2002. I purchased it in 2003 for the grand sum of $3500. Prices have clearly SHOT UP since then. I did okay IMHO. Good luck. Keep us posted.
  20. I am planning to join Terry Sayther's drive/gtg in October. It will be a new experience for me. I have not even been in Texas since I was 10 or 11 y.o. I've never been to the Austin area. I look forward to the drive and to meeting the Texas '02 crew.
  21. Enjoying the pictures and stories from Vintage 2018 here in Ohio. My RGB banner made the trip to Vintage, however.
  22. PDWebb: Nice barn find! Good luck to you. Get it roadworthy and drive it; a LOT! We need more barn finds of that caliber.
  23. I recognize a number of those 2002's! Beautiful presentation -- well done!
