  1. I bought replacement vinyl seat material for my '75 2002 a number of years ago from World Upholstery. The material was a pretty good color match and seemed to be of better quality than the original vinyl material. The guy I hired to recover the seats, however, was a dummy. I regretted letting him touch my car...
  2. You took the words out of my mouth. I told myself last June: "Even at this price, it's a very good deal." (and it was!) Prices are climbing rapidly.
  3. Welcome! Thanks for rescuing a deserving roundie. Taking it back to its original paint code would be great. Good luck and make sure that you show it off at 2002 gatherings.
  4. Congratulations! That is a very cool find. We are all pleased that it will get a proper Derby paint job and that it will receive boat loads of love and attention -- just as it should be. I hope to see it one day!
  5. Today, I sold my 87 325 eta coupe to Mick Amend, the son of my college roommate at University of Cincinnati. He's a BMW enthusiast like his father. Mick also owns an E46 coupe. It is a bit sad, but I was not using my 325 as much any more, so it started to feel like it was time to let it go..... to a worthy owner. (The first photo is just after I bought it in 2010 and the second one is from the trip to Vintage in 2017.)
  6. We had a great time last night. Having our own party room and outdoor patio with a fire pit sure was nice. Thanks to you all for turning out and making things so lively. I was able to pass along the 2002 "Off-Roading" award to Nick Mavridoglou! I've held the title for nearly 7 years, so thank you for relieving me of the dubious honor!
  7. Let's all have a great 2002-filled year!
  8. Yeah, well we guess he's all right ......
  9. My sister-in-law, Peggy McCarty was called upon by my wife to paint a portrait of Franz for me. Peggy used a photo I had shot along Kansas State Route 22 in June of 2017 as I was bringing the car to Ohio from its former home in Denver. Needless to say, I am more than happy to hang her painting on the wall. I am very pleased with her interpretation. She found Sahara to be a challenging color to match. She was concerned over making it too yellow or too brown. Bravo, Peggy! You might be able to persuade her to paint you one, too...
  10. TMV2002: If you are interested in a day trip to Ohio, the RGB (Rivertown Gearbusters) would certainly welcome you and your 2002. We are having an off-season gtg on January 13th at Kreimer's Bier Haus in Cleves, OH. (Near Cincinnati) Look us up on Facebook... You'd also enjoy Cars and Coffee at FUEL. (Run by Jason Gipson and family; it's along River Rd. just east of Cincinnati.)
  11. I did not set out to get a near-clone of Ludwig, but my '73 Sahara is a very close relative, at least. I was thinking of holding out for a '72 Golf 2002, but Andrew Ganz tempted me with his well-treated '02, so I relented. HBD, Ludwig!
  12. Nice purchase! Keep us posted (including photos) on this very interesting early survivor. Any possibility of taking it back to a Manila exterior?
  13. I'm gonna need a cold shower. Want that Golf tii badly.....
  14. A tii clock was added to the dashboard. It is a very good-looking Sienabraun, that's for sure. Price still seems high.
