  1. I believe Ireland charges an extra $125 or so to ceramic coat their headers.
  2. Yikes! Lots of damage, but it looks like the big buggy bumper is undamaged and took almost none of the force of the crash. Pics like those make me want to remove them from my 02 once and for all. I believe Lance has a post a few rows down updating his insurance claim on his 02.
  3. I don't think I installed the fronts in the rear and vice versa. The springs had a decal on them that said RR, and the fronts read FR. So I guess they were installed the right way, Unless the decals were installed on the wrong springs?! I'll try to get the measurement tomorrow, I'm stuck at work today until midnight.
  4. This past Saturday I finally installed my Ireland stage 1 springs and Bilstein sports on the rear of my '76. My question is this, was I supposed to remove those rubber seats that the springs sit on? I had to use a spring compresser to install the springs, and now the rear of the car is actually about an inch higher?! The Ireland springs didn't really seat on them all that well. Should I have removed those rubber seats? Or is there a trick to this. This is the first time I've done this so I'm alittle stumped. Any information would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

  7. Hey, JHG. I think you might have to use the coolant pipe from an '84-'85 318i. This pipe runs under the intake manifold and connects the heater hose with the water pump. I beleive this is what most people use for this conversion. Visit some local boneyards, I bought one a while back and it only cost a few dollars. Good Luck!
  8. Hey, JHC. I wouldn't do that if I were you. Your car won't be able to pass California smog with dual carbs. It's hard enough to pass a bone stock '76. My '76 was a pain in the ass to get to pass smog. Just my .02 cents.
  9. The radiator of a 320i will fit nicely. You must drill new mounting holes to mount it because it is a bit larger. But thats about it, a very simple but effective swap!
  10. Hi, everyone. I recently replaced my front suspension with Ireland stage 1 springs, Bilstein sports, ball joints and new bushings. The problem is now the car has a difficult time turning. The steering is VERY hard. Much harder than before replacing all the parts. I figured it would get this way because of the new parts. It has a very tough time turning, especialy to the right, even at speed. I hope I didn't goof up putting everything back together. Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this or how I can fix it? Any information would be great! Thanks.
  11. One answer, don't! Getting my '76 to pass smog was a pain in the arse! I eventually found a guy who would "smog it under the table". He wanted to charge me $320! I talked him down to $200. That's the only way it would pass. Maybe you could swap a more modern 318i engine or an M20, but other than that, it's very difficult to get a 30 year old carburated car to pass smog.

  13. Hey, Veno. I thought about that too, but I don't want a FWD 2002. I read in Super Street magazine that there is a company that makes RWD transmissions and bell housings for B-series motors. But I forgot their name and can't seem to find any information about them. If you can find info on them that would be a sweet set-up.
  14. I picked up some front rotors at Ireland engineering for $24 each. They are good quality, made in Germany. Forgot the brand. Also picked up some Raybestos pads for about $30 at Kragen. If you live in the Los Angeles area I'll sell you the front rotors (2) for $40. I didn't need them after all.
  15. Hey, Joey. When I purchased my header from ireland engineering they told me that the 2.25 inch exhaust was for about 160 hp. The 2 inch was good from stock to mildly modded engines. So I guess it depends on how much power you want to get out of your M10 engine. The 2 inch is probably the best choice.

  17. I've got the Ireland stage 1 springs with their 22mm swaybars and bilstein sport shocks on my '76. Great combo for the streets. They can be alittle rough around the streets here in downtown L.A., but are awesome when the road is smooth and curvy. Ireland makes some really good stuff.

  19. It's very simple. The bracket used to hold it on is attatched to the body with 2 bolts. Remove 'em and she'll come right out. Then zip tie the hoses somewhere out of the way, thats it. Don't know if you should plug the hoses though, I didn't and have had no problems.
