FYI: Those spacers were on all '02s, Euros as well.

All '02's after September 1, 1972 when Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 215 was mandated.  Just didn't realize that Euro cars got the same treatment.  It does make sense that BMW didn't want to stock 2 different strut bearings, one with long studs for US cars and one with short studs for Euro cars.

I’m feeling considerably better about my Baur Purchase today, I’m not gonna mind so much putting the money into it to make it right…

The spacer discussion about euro models was gone through few times and I still don't buy that they would have been put in every model and every market. I haven't seen a such spacer in real life and my 1502 definitely has never had them mounted.

31 33 1 106 059 = 20mm thick. According to parts book used on most '02s up to model 73 incl E3 & E9

31 33 1 113 721 = 12mm thick. According to parts book used on 02s from model 73 incl E3

My UK delivered Nov 1973 RHD Touring had them.

Amazing - two bidders took the price from $57k to $105k. Can this be seen as a realistic price?

I was thinking it would sale for around 75k, but like they say, all it takes is two people… I could probably see my way to letting this one go for 100k even…

  • BarneyT changed the title to Barney’s Verona red Baur refresh

My first real day of work on the Baur, put it up on jack stands…I removed and cleaned the interior of fuel tank not near as bad as I would have thought looks like it was replaced in the recent past…I’m going to blow out fuel lines and check compression next…

another good day working on the Baur… blew out the fuel lines/removed
the plugs/put a little oil in the cylinders/checked the compression. Very happy with the compression 182/190/190/196…

No work for a couple days I’m off to the Texas Hill Country in the E9 coupe  with the Tejas BMW club, Monday I plan on hooking up a temporary fuel pump and trying to start it…
