Throw out bearing carcass stuck to my sleeve

I have soaked it with carcinogenic chemicals, heated it with an induction coil until glowing, tried gently coaxing it with a three pound mall and chisel, and farted in its general direction, all to no avail.

This is on a Getrag 265/6 so the sleeve portion is rather rare and not really expendable.  Also, the bell housing cannot be removed with the remains of the TO bearing stuck to the sleeve so I must work on it in situ.

All you wrust wranglers, HELP!!!

It sounds like you're trying to save the sleeve, so is there enough room between the sleeve and the bellhousing casting to work a thin, split bearing puller back in there to pull from the back side?

Otherwise, go with the Dremel and a good supply of cutoff wheels.

Thanks for all the responses.  Son of Marty was the first to suggest the Dremeling technique and that worked.  It did leave a small groove on the sleeve which can be cleaned up with some JB Weld I believe.

I recommend that after cleaning to bare metal, you use silver solder instead of JB Weld. Then gently file off the excess to a smooth finish.

This is a good idea and very easy to implement.

Must have been on there a while huh?

Glad you got it off and the sleeve can be cleaned up enough to use.

Pretty sure I would put a little anti seize on that sleeve maybe more than a little  😉

If thats just a guide can't you just leave that small cut alone with out filling it and just clean the whole thing up with some ribbon sandpaper?

If everybody in the room is thinking the same thing, then someone is not thinking.
