    That's the casting number.

The temperature is lightly stamped on the housing.

Shown are an 80&71 degree units.

  2. Einspritz's post in General Question re: Torque Specs was marked as the answer
Not the way I was taught.

    It's 80 but not more than 94.

You'll find some specs the base and+/- .

If you're really unsure you can look up the torque in the tables (iirc) in the front of the blue manual.

  3. Einspritz's post in Removing rear wheel bearings. was marked as the answer
Put the nut on backwards, pound out the stub axle, remove inner and outer seals, remove bearings.

    Hi

The linkages are correct though I prefer a plastic linkage between the intermediate shaft and the pump. Even a little lash will affect your tuning.

Sometimes it's a good thing to attach the ground strap now when the large bolt at the starter bracket is exposed.

    Looks nice
  5. Einspritz's post in Engine lift process step was marked as the answer
You have room in front to move the block forward, but not enough to clear the transmission input shaft with the clutch without lifting the engine front, which will then bind the input shaft within the clutch.

Now, you could pull the engine forward a bit to expose the clutch bolts and undo them freeing up the shaft.

    But why?

We're talking time here, and it's not that much time to just remove the transmission (2 cross member and giubo bolts, shift rod, reverse switch wire) , 20 minutes tops, and it will also be easier to assemble.

Extra Extra credit for doing this with the hood in place!
  6. Einspritz's post in Steering box install/centering was marked as the answer
Yes, but note there is a stop on the subframe, I can't remember which side, so go from there.

The standard Steering box has a ratio of 15.5:1 and the published number of turns is 3.5 although I have seen 3.7-3.75 so this is not exact, and that is why you have to go from the stop. at lease that's how I approach it.

In looking back at the Blue Book Manual 32-11/1-X you can align the pitman shaft strike mark with the strike mark on the arm, the pittman shaft and the casting parting line to get "center". Then check the number of turns and partial turns such that you have close to equality each way you turn.

    Clear as mud!

Note too that at the end of each side of travel, there will be increased slop (movement side to side in the wheel) due to the worm gear at the end of it's travel.

  7. Einspritz's post in Fuel tank sending unit - now rebuilt! was marked as the answer
Ok, help me understand; 10 Ohm / cm is 254 Ohm per foot, and that is not on the web site you provided nor near the 70 Ohm per foot in the original post.

Can you also tell us what the ohm readings  empty - full for the long sender?

    Thanks!
